Drene was the first detergent shampoo. Before Drene, all shampoos were soap-based, which left a film that needed special rinse products after each shampooing to remove it.

When I recognized her, I was a little surprised because she was already playing important parts in movies by 1955 or so, and this commercial looks like it's from the same time. By the time you're co-starring in movies, you're no longer making commercials anonymously.
