The house has been remodeled, that's why that one bedroom has the odd ceiling medallion, and the wall blocking off part of the fireplace created that odd pedistal in the hall. Keep Orange Crushing It, Drew!
@DrewsAdventuresGo2 ай бұрын
Yes that's what I thought too. The ceiling rose / medallion is definitely off centre and that could only be from a remodelling. Thank you so much Tommy my friend and hope you aren't working too crazy long hours 😍🤗
@Ahm.nae-fou2 ай бұрын
The "built-in stand" at around 5" was part of the fire, the heat from the fire would warm the stones and also heat the hallway. You could place a kettle or pot on it to warm it up, or even dry your socks on it.

Thank you so much for letting me know that. That makes sense too. Welcome to my channel if you're new too and hope you keep enjoying my content mate 😃
@JohnShinn60782 ай бұрын
I almost missed this one somehow, I must've got busy and the notification got buried. What you call the bedroom was originally the living room I beleve, that's why the ceiling ornamentation isn't centered and the "pedestal" in the hall is actually the left end of the fireplace. That wall between the two is not original. Thanks for the tour Drew! Stayin tuned! 👍🤠

What an interesting place. I really like how you explain what things are as you go along because quite a few of these are different than what we have in the States and I wouldn't have known what they were. I enjoyed this tour, great video 👍
@DrewsAdventuresGo2 ай бұрын
Whoops wrong video I replied to aha. Yes I hope my explanations make sense and it's fascinating how homes around the world have their own architecture styles. In my part of Australia we mostly used bricks cos wood was susceptible to termites so you'll mostly see brick homes here. Thank you for watching and hope you and your family are well my friend 🤗
@Artist11_NC2 ай бұрын
@@DrewsAdventuresGo That makes total sense! At one point in my life, I lived in the Northeastern part of the states and most homes had basements for storage. I remember my grandmother would make homemade goods and store them in the nice cold basement. Most of the basements at that time were all dirt. They creeped me out when I was a kid lol. And now, here in the southern part of the states, they don't have basements in most places...mainly because of the tropical storms and hurricanes, they would flood too easy. I grew up in a brick house, which they don't build much of anymore. It was a beautiful place.
@DrewsAdventuresGo2 ай бұрын
@Artist11_NC yes I remembered hearing somewhere that basements are banned in Florida? I'm not sure if they're banned but definitely like you say the hurricane issue is too dangerous to have basements. I'm not too sure why basements never caught on in Australia as much as the US. Here it's more likely you'll see a basement in a farm house than anywhere suburban. I think your grandmother had a great idea there cos I know Australia We had meat safes which were meant to keep meats and fresh produce cool. Not sure how they worked but they're fascinating 😍
