1951 Chevy 1300 with 283 small-block | Dyno Tuned

Ottawa, Ontario. In this episode, we tuned a beautiful 1951 Chevrolet 1300 pickup truck equipped with a Holley Sniper EFI. We tackled some technical glitches, fixed the PCV system, and adjusted the idle. Wally then worked on perfecting the fuel curve and timing. We watched the horsepower and throttle response steadily improve until this '51 Chevy 1300 was running strong and cruising down the street with impressive power.
Overall, we improved the Torque by 22.4% and Horsepower - to the wheels - by 35%.

The early to mid fifties Chevy C1300 is the best looking truck ever made. My brother has my dad’s old one and hopefully one day I will own one. I have all kinds of want to but can’t find a project that interests me.

That was some impressive gains! Was the Holley Sniper off that much out of the box or did timing give you more gains? 32 degrees total is pretty low for a 283. I subscribed to your channel because I love this kind of stuff more than anything 👌

When you give one of these standalone, systems a chance to try and learn on its own. It will certainly run. It's not going to make a lot of performance. Until the combustion chamber has somewhere between 12:00 to 1:00 and 13.5 to 1. Combined with correct ignition timing, there's going to be a very large increase in the efficiency. That's what we accomplished. We simply corrected it until it ran the way it should

We did, at one point set the ignition timing at 34. We gained 2 horsepower. So we put it back to 32. It was very happy at 32.
