A man with an angle grinder and a vise rebuilding an engine, excellent! No million dollar milling machines and robo guided lazers just human patience and attention to detail.

In 1960 I bought a '52 TD with eight teeth missing on the ring gear. I pulled the engine to make life easier. Ordered the ring gear and it was shipped overseas for about $100.00. I had a machine shop install the new ring gear and balance it. While I was waiting, I decided to pull the pistons to take the build one step further. To my surprise, the rod journals were larger than the bore ! Lots of fun. My other TD was a RHD.

No idea. Never seen anyone do an engine swap on a td. Maybe a Honda S2000 engine would fit?

Hey quick question Do you still need to install the cork seal on the back main bearing if you did the moss conversion seal???? Because on one video when you are putting the engine back together you mention installing the cork rear seal
@atvsanonymous2 жыл бұрын
Yes. The cork seal is for the oil pan. The new rear main seal is for the crank.

@@atvsanonymous thanks. I talk to moss motors yesterday and they said no or maybe they didn’t understand. Did your car ever leak oil after the installation?

Haven't got it started yet.

Great video, glad I watched it before I installed the kit this weekend. I wonder where Moss got the 0.080 for the depth on the flywheel? Mine turned out almost the same as your's at 0.042. Did you need to shorten the bolts? My flange is 0.44 and the flywheel about 0.36 which adds up to less than the length of my bolts (0.92). I'm fortunate that I checked before I ran them in.

Glad I could help. Yeah, that is weird.

I don't think I needed to shorten the bolts

Never had a leak issue with the rope seal on XPAG or XPAW engines. Can't say the same for the side cover and valve core.

I'd put the flywheel on with the dowels first ,That would ensure its centered on the crank,The bolt holes will have a bit of slack around them ,
