Bringing back memories of my 38 Ford pickup I had in high school in the early 70s. To this day the best vehicle I have owned, never mind the over heating. Always amazed at how slow it would idle.

Nice work, I love the old flat heads. Only thing wrong with that engine is that it isn't mine..

I found a 1952 Ford F6 COE in a field in West Texas. I located the owner, asked about buying it, and did. I bought it and I'm going back to pick it up in 2 days. It is all original - including a totally unmolested 239 flathead V8. All of the glass is intact / not broken and not cloudy. All of the chrome is there and the body is straight as can be. West Texas did its magic to the paint and the patina is killer. Can't wait to see if I can get it running. The previous owner said he parked it in the field and left it there for the past 11 years.

Could have put edelbrock alloy heads and painted them the stock color plus a set of headers and a three carb setup and it would have been an old school hot rod motor but I like the fact you rebuilt it stock with a little bump in performance! Flatty's forever!

I hardly call it "completely stock". You've done a lot of work to it. Great sounding engine! It does look stock, except for the alternator. I'm trying to determine if I should "build" mine. It, too, is an 8RT (bone stock) in a '53 F-100. Mine runs smoothly but, I would like to give it some muscle.....and sound.

A long time ago i had a chance to buy a 1952 Ford F1. The body was beyond help but the engine was complete. Can't remember if it was in running condition. Almost bought it for the engine to install in a '51 F1 i bought minus the drive train. Instead i installed a small block Chevy for the extra horsepower. It worked out great but now i wished I'd rebuilt that flathead.

Thankyou for the video. I'd like to see the oil flow path including through the pan bulkhead fitting please. I bought a '47 59a .060 over in a basket. Some info on oil pump and full flow filter plumbing would be helpful. I have. some diagrams on drilling the block, I would like to see the procedure you used. Bruce

Beautiful restoration of a near-stock 239 flathead. The installation of a 12 volt GM alternator and coil (and starter?) is absolutely unnecessary, since the original equipment would run just fine. Some quizzical notion of people these days to be Unable to leave classics as stock, and settle for near-stock is just unfortunate. Pure stock would have been a tribute to the original Ford design. This modified unit was so unnecessary.
@markk36525 жыл бұрын
The 12 volt conversion on a flathead gives one the ability to equip the car with modern day electronics/radio. Sure, the six volt system worked, but its more of a pain to try to incorporate voltage boosters for modern radios, or cell phone chargers. The coil is absolutely no different looking than a 6v unit, the alternator is just a modern upgrade for better usability. The starter looks stock also, the 6v starter can handle 12v no problem as long as you don't crank them for a stupid long time.
