This is a very nice machine. What a find! It reminds me a bit of the Elna Supermatic Grasshopper.

Thank you. I didn't knew about the Elna Supermatic Grasshopper, I just googled it and you're right. They're both really similar, thanks for showing me another cool sewing machine.

@@andymaverick It’s always fun to chat about sewing machines! I hope you will refurbish more of them. Let us know how your mom likes her gift.

I agree and she absolutely loves it. She use it once or twice a month, not so frequently but its her favorite by far. I will refurb more sewing machines in the near future. I'm planning my next one for this summer.

Yes indeed! I have both the Elna grasshopper and the Bernina 125s and cannot help thinking Bernina had the grasshopper in mind when they designed the 125. 👍

Well done ! I just saw one this morning with the same problems at the ressourcerie. I was strong, I didn't buy it ! I already have a Bernina 700 and several Singer, my wife would kill me ;)

You have a strong will! It's always nice to hear about other peoples collection :) . I think these problems develop when they dont use the sewing machine for years or decades. Anyway, thank you for the kind words and good luck with your existing projects ;).

I have also an 125 Bernina but not the jubilae model. Only problem that i have is that for winding the bobbin it not stops when the spoel is full. What can cause that problem ? Thanks for the great video.
@andymaverick Жыл бұрын
Hi. First of all I would inspect the tension discs for your bobbin winding problem. Usually some dirt causing this at the tension discs or there's something in your bobbin. The fault with pawl can be a few things, try lubricating it with a few drops of oil then move it by hand if possible. If this doesn't help you try tracking the movement further. Did your Bernina 125 was out of order for a long period of time? Do these problems gradually increased? I'm glad you liked the video and if a few pictures could help you I will shoot some for you when I visit my mother.

I thought I could easily get to starter electrics hoping to find a loose connection. But I can't find way into electrical connection parts

I would check the switch first, it can be oxidized.

Nice to see. I have my grandmother's Bernina Jubilae. My only problem has finding replacement belts for the motor. I think the ones in your machine may not be original. Were they replaced?
@andymaverick Жыл бұрын
It's a wierd one. When I went to buy it, the guy told me its in working condition, obviously it wasen't but it had these rubber belts in it's box. The guy put them on when he tried fixing it on the spot. I left them on and started filming the video. I still have the original green cloth like belts but they're stretched out. Never wonderd about how hard could it be to find belts for it.

Refurbishing one from my grandmother, has not been using in 50+years. Where did you source your motor brushes? I am troubleshooting high watt draw at the moment, just oiled it up and will recheck but thinking of other causes? At mid throttle it starts drawing 80+ watts when it looks rated for 75? It is a 220v model 125.
@andymaverick Жыл бұрын
You will have some work with it then. I sourced my motor brushes locally in shop that exclusively sells motor brushes. They didn't had the correct one either so I bought the closest one in size. Originally its for a 70's Russian vaacum cleaner. I wouldn't be concernd about the 80+ draw. When I checkd my mothers it did the same thing if memory serves right. My best bet is that they rated the wattage on a lower average across all the machines. God luck with fixing your grandmothers sewing machine.

I have recently acquired a Bernina Jubilae, but without the electric cord, or . There is no “hole” to plug in a knee handle. Does anyone know if a foot pedal would go with this model?
@andymaverick2 ай бұрын
What model do you have? Later models had foot pedals.

If you're talking about the settings on it then yes. All the main parts where perfectly setup. All it needed was some manual moving and oil. Probably it was not in use in the past 20 years and everything with oil on it stuck together shut.
