Corvette ! When I was in High School in small town Iowa. I dreamed of owning one. Well the ins cost, was to high. But when I turned 55. I bought my 1985 Vette. Then in 2018 my my second one. 1997 vette, instead of one I own two. What a car, 346 hp slick stylish low to the ground, sleek. A cruiser, to just sit back, radio on back to the seventies alittle 60's. And just think back to 1953. When Harley Earl, put some mud on a frame. And trimmed here and there. And liked what he saw. Lets call it Corvette. Now 8 generations later, still the Heart beat of America sports car.

HARLEY EARL! Oh, I can't believe you didn't mention his name. This was Earl's baby. I love his designs so much I named my first born son after him. Thanks for sharing this beauty. Now, let's see a '54, '55, '56...

Yup, and one of his best friends was George Tanguay (who was/is my Grandfather) my grandfather is the one who invented the fiberglass molding process for the corvette (he held the patent for the process until his passing). He is also one of the two other men who helped Harley hand build the corvette prototype as well as the first production cars not to mention he and Harley also hand-built the 2 rarest corvettes ever made... the corvette station wagon (which later became the nomad)

Oh, I almost forgot, I even have the original movie roll of the construction of the corvette prototype. Can you guess what was the most unique part of the prototype was?

@@roberttanguay8532 That's awesome. I'd love to see that footage, do you have it uploaded to your channel? The most unique part of the Corvette prototype... If I remember right, the doors didn't open, but that was common on other prototypes... I remember seeing pictures of it, and the trim was different, particularly around the grille rear end... that's about all I can think of off the top of my head!

Beautiful car, although the '63 split window C2 is my personal favourite! You guys should do one of those.

The original 1953 Corvette shows how much has changed over the years. It has to be kept in mind that the year was 1953 and the only engine Chevrolet had at that time was the inline 6 cylinder engine that dated back to the nineteen thirties. Chevrolet did what they could at that time to boost the power of the 6 cylinder engine to 150 horsepower. When Chevrolet came out with the small block V8 engine in 1955, the V8 engine was a major improvement for the Corvette.

I remember as a kid in the '50s seeing these early Vette's running around town and they ALWAYS turned our heads and made us "wish someday" to have one! Since that time, I've owned 7 or 8 of them of differing years.....and enjoyed every one!!

I just read an article ... On This Day In History! The first Corvettes rolled off the line on June 30, 1953! Chevy only made 300 Corvettes in 1953. Today 225 of them are still in existence. Though the 1954 and 1955 Corvettes are nearly identical to the 1953 model.

Its no muscle car, but that wouldn't stop me! I t is the most "European" of principles, sedan (saloon over here) running gear, warmed up engine, and a sweet 2 seat body. I had a brief ride in a 54 years back, and it is a super cruiser. for me, one of these, a 61, a 67 big block and a 69 charger and I would be a happy bunny (who wouldn't?)

Love these videos. Unfortunately, the Corvette is not the longest continuously produced model. As much as that would be an awesome fact, they did not build the Corvette in 1983. The Suburban would take the title anyway since it was produced all the way back to 1935. If you're just talking cars, the Corolla has been in continuous production since 1966.

Ford F250 and F350 have been in production since 1953. And before that the equivalent F1 and F2 were being produced.

Hey guys, how about showing a red 1974 Corvette as a tribute to Sheriff Buford Pusser? He'd just bought a new one a couple of days before he was killed in his. I believe he had the 270 HP 454 in his Vette.

Hey Kev. I heard the “mysterious” Brothers are a couple of Dittyboppers from way back. A rumour like that could spread pretty quick. How bout spilling the beans on these guys and clearing things up before it does? Nice work on the video. They just keep getting better.

If that thing had dual overhead cams and 4 valves like the Jag it would have been a contender no V-8 needed ( at least for a while)

No, but three single barrel carbs and dual exhaust.... ok, they were turds, but if it wasn't for these early 'vettes, Chevy may not have gotten a V8 for another 10 years.

Chevys got V8s in '55, actually a year sooner than planned, just because of the Corvette. As soon as the Corvette was unveiled in 1952, the Chevrolet division got approval to begin designing a V8 for it. If not for that, they probably wouldn't have seen one until the early '60s. But, yes, the '55s had V8s AND 4 speed trannys available, and they were awesome.
