Great to see someone actually getting an ole 6 engine going:-) I'm so sick of people just stuffing in a chevy 350 to what ever they are building!

I love these old engines. Unfortunately it’s going to take awhile to get this project finished. Thank you for the kind words!

I agree, that broke off the end of a fuel pump. Check the Cam lobe it runs on. Looking good!

Thank you for the comment, the cam seems to be in good shape.

Sixty years ago I was driving a '51 plymouth w that engine and a three on the tree. Good combination.
@GaryAhlАй бұрын
Yes it is a good combination and I need to get back to work on the Pilothouse. It’s been at least a year since I’ve worked on it. Thanks for the comment.

Looks like a fairly clean motor lucky buy
@GaryAhl2 жыл бұрын
It most certainly was a lucky buy.

As soon has he cleaned it, I knew exactly what that piece belongs too. Luckily it didn't jam up.

So true, it could have caused a bit of damage if it had gotten into the rotating assembly. Thank you for your comment!

Mechanical fuel pump lift arm. Rides on cam shaft. Broke off and fell into bottom of the oil pan.

it is the lever of the fuel pump
@GaryAhl11 ай бұрын
Yes it is. 👍

I think it might be the arm from the fuel pump. I could be wrong but that's my guess. Good luck with it.

Thank you for your input, I think this engine will be a runner.

fuel pump tang. easy fix. might as well do the rear main seal while it's on the stand.
@GaryAhl2 жыл бұрын
Changing the rear main seal probably is the smart thing to do. It would really stink to put the engine together and have it leak.

I just paid 1100 dlls for a plymouth flat head 6 cil in line engine and transmission, those engines are hard to find now and becoming expensive.
@GaryAhl11 ай бұрын
Yes they are and so is everything else I need for the truck. Might have to find a part time job so I can finish the truck…lol

Are you going to do a front end, king pin replacement. I'd like to see that
@GaryAhl2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t looked at the king pins yet but if they are worn and need replacing I’ll film it. Thank you for the comment!

I know what that is. Fuel pump arm. I haven't seen one of those break off before

So you're telling me that the stuck engine on the '53 Dodge is unsalvageable?
@GaryAhl5 күн бұрын
Anything is salvageable if you want to throw enough money at it. Being the block is cracked it’s not worth fixing in my opinion.
