Very nice... breaks my heart... lol, but very nice! Happy for you, brother, that you get to do another one, and that it's a better platform to start with.

I think I'm the weird one in the group, because I wanna see it with a translucent finish.. I think those multi piece maple caps have a lot of character.

Just a Finish suggestion . The song " The stories we could tell " . Would be a great base for the finish . Newly weathered or baby's got a brand new bag 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶👍 What ever you choose I know will come out nice !

Hi BigD, I have a question about the Angelus dyes. If you mix the neutral and black, like REALLY dilute the black with the neutral before applying, would that go on lighter, almost like a sanded back look or grey perhaps? I'm very new and have a few guitar bodies I want to have a go at but they are PAPER thin veneers and I doubt they would take a sand back without going right through the veneer. Just something I am thinking about and don't have the materials to attempt over and over, lol. I have all the Angelus dyes (love them) but not used to such thin veneers.

I could understand filling the dents if you were going to paint the whole thing, but as a gold top you'll be clear finishing the sides and back. As they're part of it's provenance, why not leave the 'scars' on the sides and back of the guitar? (Clients wishes notwithstanding)

The MojoAxe bridge for the 52-53 LPs seem like a good work around for the shallow neck angle.

I see them at Mojoaxe for 165 dollars for the trapeze style which this year probably had.

Should be an easier repair than the other one. I'm wondering if you might be interested enough to explore making an river table type tele or strat or les paul style guitar.

Really cool. What are you going to do with the bridge? Recess?

Cool project. What would you say the value is in that condition? What would say it will be when it's all refinished/put back together?

So with the multiple piece top was it originally painted a solid color? Were they all gold tops?
@gcatwyo Жыл бұрын
All gold or gold tops until 58, the Customs started in 54 but didn't have maple caps. Bursts started in 58.
@jeffreyeagen4896 Жыл бұрын
@@gcatwyo Thank you. I knew the bursts started in 58, wasn't sure what they were before that.

Leave the back and neck un-cloured and if it were mine I would have the front natural finish too rather than gold paint ❤

Pleeeease don't sand the top to gain som more height at the bridge. There is so much better options out there that includes not altering the actual guitar.
@kft590Ай бұрын
No matter how bad the finish is it is best to leave to leave it as original it destroys the value of the guitar.
