So why is this sub-$75 when a similarly spec'd Warmoth would likely run you $475+? Well, let's see... - The wood is likely not properly dried, because drying takes time and time is money is higher price. - The frets are probably made of hope. - The nut is definitely made of sadness. - The dye appears to be a once-over with something like a Watco walnut finish that has deposited enough black gunk into the grain to look good from 8' or so. - The top coat is probably half the thickness of the neck itself, primarily so they can run it across the buffing wheel as quickly as possible without burning through it. - And like you mentioned they can't even be bothered to clean the fucking thing off. "They" in this case being the slave wage paying fucks that own whatever trash-tier company is shitting these out like a post-Taco Bell colon cleanse. It pisses me off that companies like Eastman (who largely operate under the "make a good product and attain a lower price via the differences in production cost" method that made Japan an economic powerhouse) get lumped in with these ass-drizzling deucepeddlers. About the only good thing that can come of this is the fact that there definitely will be people working in whatever factory this is that decide they don't want to deal with making trash and split off to start their own company with blackjack and hookers. And good guitars.

I got a Chibson LP Custom, swapped all cheap hardware to Epiphone parts, Probuckers, pots and wiring and Gotoh tuners. Now it's a nice looking and very good sounding guitar, i love it!

WoW Fantastic Job!!! I have a 1978 25/50 Les Paul with a damaged binding at the headstock. How did you match the aged yellowed color of the new neck binding with the original aged yellowed headstock binding? A tint or did you use a new aged yellowed binding on the neck?

I have an Alder Strat body that I want to stain it blue, do you think it is worth it starting with the black? It has some grain but not that much.

For the finishing you still used sanding sealer? or is just tru-oil?

I am in the process of doing my maple drum kit like this but with some green blended. Would you recommend this dye or would keda or Angelus work better?

The acid will still keep eating the metal, you need to use baking soda and water, that neutralizes it , remember acid will continue to eat the even if you put oil on top of it.

Some of those crazy figured necks from China have painted on flames. I'd probably pull the frets and refinish it.

Thanks for the review. I've spent as little as $100 for a perfectly serviceable flamed T-Style Chinese neck, and as much as $945 for a custom made Musikraft (Exhibition Grade Flamed Maple w/SS Frets). You do get what you pay for, that much is true. As for the Chinese necks I've purchased, wood was dry when produced, my biggest complaint was the poor quality fret wire (that was years ago, I'd imagine SS frets are available these days).

I buy necks from China i live in the Philippines and i have found a manufacturer that does a pretty good job, i buy from the factory and shipping is nothing to the Philippines and the necks are half what you pay in usa or uk and there is free return if you find a problem

I have ran into the same problems with China necks. I have about 12 guitar necks of different scale lengths that have been sitting for months. I don't have any one piece, but the quality is better then others. I'll end up pulling the frets. I'll re-radius the fretboard. Some of them are all over the place when checking the radius. My necks are all unfinished and you can feel how wavey the beck of the necks are, so they all get a good sanding before finishing sanding, paint, or clear. Surprising, all of the truss rods respond the way they should. All of the time I put into a neck, I could have just made my own.

solid Cherry guitar bodies don't sound amazing, but cherry tops over some woods can sound amazing, and a flamed cherry top over mahogany, etc. can be really great! Got one in the works myself in fact!

When you held it up around the 5:30 mark you can see the bow in the neck. Looks like a neck that would come on 1 of the cheaper harley benton or cheaper guitars out there.

That bow doesn't mean a damn thing if the neck has a two-way truss rod.
