What a great looking car! Great to see one as is and not destroyed by being changed into something it was never meant to be. My brother had a '52 auto that was really nice.

First car I remember in my life, it was light yellow with a brown roof. It was 3 years old when I was born. It got replaced with 1956 Olds Holiday 88.

My dad had a 53 Merc two door hardtop in about 1990 that was not as nice as this one. It had a lot of rust under the doors and the interior was shot. It sat in a field for 25 years before he bought it. Someone told him about an old car he kept seeing in a cow pasture. My dad went and looked at it and wanted to pass because it was gone he thought. But he pulled the dipstick and it still had oil in the old flathead. So he gave the owner $100 and had it towed home. It did not take very much to get it running and that old motor ran so smoothly. It was a 3 on the tree and after he put tires on it, dual exhaust, greased the front end, and put blankets on the seats, my dad drove that car quite a bit. He was amazed at how tight the front end was after all those years of sitting in a cow pasture. He eventually let his 3rd wife talk him into selling all his old cars. Out of all the cars he had, that's the one I wish I had now. And he had some that were much nicer than the old Merc.

Enrique, thank you so much for sharing! this '53 has found a new home, but we've got some other Montereys to take a look at if you're interested - www.gatewayclassiccars.com/make/mercury?sort_by=year&direction=asc&trim=Monterey That's a great story about how he got that Merc!
