I am a vintage fashion dealer and I work closely with couture pieces of this age, including Chrisitan Dior, and I can tell you for a fact that in this day and age $1500-2000 for this dress is a steal! I would snap it up for that price! Isn't it funny how prices appreciate? Oh how I wish I had been doing this 10-15 years ago!

Almost like Debbie Reynolds when the movie houses would throw out costumes she would see the value and grab them. Back then they were considered worthless but some now are priceless.

They're sewn into the dress. Couture dresses like this pretty much always have a foundation built in.

@@NostaIgiaJunkie They're more commonly built together. It depends on the silhouette. Ideally, it's more comfortable to build everything together, so you don't have the layers slipping or riding up.

My Grandmother made her own dress for my parents wedding in the early 60s. It was similar in fabric and design . It actually fit me in my young woman age of early 20s. The bodice was more streamlined without the buttons and a dropped collar to moderate the sweetheart bodice . I wouldn't be surprised if she had a similar pattern from this one.
