The 1953 Studebaker was one of the most beautiful American cars of the 1950s. Not surprisingly, it was designed by a Frenchman, Raymond Loewy. However, after 1953 Studebaker insisted upon "improving" it, which gradually made it look worse. For instance, in 1954, they insisted upon adding "teeth" to the grill. Every year after that they added more and more improvements", which only made it look worse and worse.
