Beautiful American classic!! A guy who owns a Toyota dealer near me has a 57 Bel Air in his show room. It was flawlessly restored and had a color combination similar to this, 2 speed powerglide trans and the 283 V8. Absolutely stunning car but it wasn't for sale. =( It was nice to see someone who appreciates these old cars. I'd be interested to find one of these for myself one day!! Great review Kyle!

RANT BELOW! American car manufacturing priorities went from good looks, the love of the ride, and 'No replacement for displacement' to... MPG's and safety and mass manufacturing, and weight reducing as much as possible. Plastic side panels? No more rust, I suppose... Safety bumpers? There goes the chrome... Air bags (while rather useful) took away the design on the steering wheel... Come on, the real cars are the ones that have this charm about them, the ones that bring you back to that time period. Nobody will see a Camry or Civic in 20 years and think it for that much of a car. Or a Taurus or Avenger, for that matter. Cars today have no personality or charm. Just my two cents...
@forcefan121110 жыл бұрын

Joe Moorman Now I know you're not being serious that you said "GM is having the best sales". Funny how they've recalled more cars more than they sold because they're too incompetent to go back to a 20 year old ignition switch design that was perfect, and people are dumb enough to keep buying them. But not only that, GM has been having a lot more issues than just the ignition, it's their whole modern day design. Chrysler and Ford seemed to pull their heads out of their ass, and GM hasn't. Modern day American cars now are just 100% plastic, overloaded with electronics and have some really dumb engineering (not as horrible as BMW's engineering flaws ;) ) I'd take a durable, full metal 60's/70's sports car over a modern day 2014 plastic, 200hp FWD "super sports" car. In the event of a collision, you're not going to die.
@Samspianopage10 жыл бұрын
I agree aswell, whilst modern cars have improved dramatically in passenger safety and controllability with the likes of ABS and traction control, modern cars (with a very few exceptions because remember there's always exceptions to everything), have hee-haw character to them, you only need to look at the color-keyed dash and interior aswell as the aluminium work on the dash, so intricate, the way the car's sculpted with it's roofline, and that was before we had CAD or robotic panel presses and precision tools, and yet they were able to do some very inventive and amazing stuff, the Hydraulic electric windows always amazed me how that worked, modern cars have went all that grey plastic way, too much focus on MPG and electronic gadgets and not enough on actually driving the car.

@SinclairisCool it was the first year a chevy came with a V8 and it was a 265CI, 4.3 liter with a 2bbl carb. it's not that big of an engine. it is pretty much the same size as the v6 used in chevy trucks today. This car could be tweaked as well. The 1956 and 57 offered the 283 with fuel injection or a 4 barrell that pumped out between 280 and 300hp. and the 327 and 348 were even more powerful.

@saabkyle04 Exactly, so much thought and detail were put into their products, workers worked hard and took a lot of pride in their work, and were really fortunate to have a job. Now days everything has gotten cheaper and less craftsmanship is shown. They also don't build them to last anymore, with exception to the Japanese. Hope someday we can restore those old ways that were once known.
