Good luck on the project. Futuristically on a carburetor engine it's better to fill the carburetor with gas through the vent tube rather than high doses of starting fluid.the detonation from starting fluid can damage piston and valves.good luck on this beauty.

@lonokolotowicz55972 жыл бұрын
Igrew up with these cars. You need to check the float seat on the carb. You can pull the fuel line at the carb, and crank it over to see if the pump works. smell the oil for gas smell. Your best bet is to get Marine fuel for the car. It has no alcohol and will not dry out the gaskets. Get some extra points and a condenser..

Yes sir that is a good automobile. My Granddaddy purchased a 1956 Chevrolet a 150 model (trim level below the 210). Keep that car and make it a daily driver. You really have a good car and it is complete. You can get carburetor kits and fuel pump rebuilder kits (that pump is rebuildable). And as you have mentioned it you want to get the car to the point where her Granddaddy bought it. My Granddaddy bought his Chevrolet used from the original owner and later gave it to my father for us kids to drive. We rebuilt the engine and got it in good mechanical shape and my Dad could put a paint job on a car that would rival any body shop. When Dad painted that car it had been stripped of the old paint and the trim and all we had to mask off were the front and rear windows. We polished up the chrome when we reassembled the car and I'm here to tell you it was jam up. Of course as I got older I had to hot rod the car and truly at the age of seventy I wish I had not. Keep the car like it is and fix it up with a good quality paint job (original color if you please). Paint job does not have to be a real expensive one but a good quality paint (we used a good acrylic enamel this was back in 1968-69). This will be a good set of posts to follow.🥸🥸

Please please resist the urge to do a drivetrain swap. This thing is beautiful as it is and needs to be preserved. Also when starting engine after being parked for a long time it's not a good idea to use starting fluid. Starting fluid dries out the cylinders and can cause excessive cylinder wear very rapidly. Best to use either gasoline in a squirt bottle or some with two-stroke oil mixed in to get some good top cylinder lubrication.
@CrossroadsRebuild2 жыл бұрын
