For real... I was watching the video from the start, getting indigestion just thinking about how I'd feel starting up the car given the cost/rarity, then a fucking horse out of nowhere??? I would have legit needed a change of undies, and I'm not even joking.

Have you ever driven one? No don't lie ok.
@cliffordbradford89107 жыл бұрын
Pretty much. I've seen one in the flesh and they're pretty amazing. IIRC this one's intake manifold is different - less massive if you can believe that. The word is because of the direct injection you have to drive them regularly and on longer trips else you get fuel in the oil issues.
@RtdXyron7 жыл бұрын
That camaro wasnt the worst one take. All the stanced and lowered douchecanoes (BMWs) that rub most of the time are way worse than having 3 of your 4 breaks working.
@cliffordbradford89107 жыл бұрын
What's really bad is the guy on a car video thread that can't spell "brakes".
@Crusher1037 жыл бұрын
Yea but those cars actually have BRAKES. there is nothing really wrong with having a car a slammed to the ground as long as its with in reason. And the red 740li which is what i assume you are talking about actually was not bad at all, not my taste but to each his own. HOWEVER having malfunctioning brakes and then handing the keys to that car over to somebody to drive on a canyon road that is heavy on the brakes and then claiming its "safe." Its not even a comparison.

OH MY GOSH! PLESE try to source more classics cars like this, Matt. Everyone is reviewing the new, boring, modern stuff. It's *always* the same. "rides a bit better. Turbocharged engine has more power and torque, but it might as well be electric because I can't hear it anyway. DCT is even faster. Oh, and the car is utterly uncontrollable with the driver aids turned off." I know that trying to find classic cars in a condition such that they can be enjoyed and thrashed around a canyon can be a "needle in a haystack" scenario, but they're SO much more interesting than the modern snoozefests that we call "supercars." (and I say that as someone who has been around Silverstone at full pace in a 675LT and thrashed an Aventador around the roads of Italy).

flyingphoenix113 stupid humble brag st the end of your comment ruined it, dipshit
@flyingphoenix1137 жыл бұрын
It wasn't a "humble brag." In formal argumentation, it's called a concession. If I had not included that bit, I'm sure there would be some neophyte replying "Have you ever *DRIVEN* a modern supercar? If you haven't, you can't call them a snoozefest." Even though the Tu Quoque previously demonstrated is logically fallacious, it still helps, if for nothing else than an ethical standpoint, to demonstrate that I actually have some credentials before making what some would see as an incredulous claim.

Yeah, drum brakes better than no brakes :P
@nickvw54047 жыл бұрын
All those people who think they know it all. Let me tell you, drum brakes are potentially way better than disc brakes. Why? Do your math and you see for yourself........
@vtr01047 жыл бұрын
Well, seeing as how I almost didn't make it to high-school due to how lousy I was at math, I'd say that's pretty much a recipe for disaster :|. However, as the owner of cars with both discs on all fours and discs-front, drums-rear, I can say that the difference is mostly in the brake balance. On my old Dacia, it feels like the front loads up more under braking. On my slightly-less-old SAAB, it's more of a progressive stop. But, seeing as how I suspect you actually know math, and I am always ready to be schooled, please explain your statement :D
@engagesilence2397 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, don't be shitty. Nobody's here to rag on drum brakes, we're here to shit on last week's Camaro and the irresponsible fuck of an owner who didn't bother to mention his car only had 3/4 brakes working before letting Matt drive it on a winding canyon road.

@brandonchism69607 жыл бұрын
If they have four left, why not go to some fabrication shop and get 100 or so molded? They won't be factory parts, but I'm sure a good, working knock-off could be made.
@brandonchism69607 жыл бұрын
that logic makes sense for auction or sale, especially in the case of classic icons like this car where those little finite details can be the difference in huge amounts of money. BUT for this car which is somewhat treated like a driver, it would make sense to save the OEM parts for a future sale and use knock-offs for the random drives and exhibition.

Man, that is a sick car! And big up Dieter for driving it, these cars were meant to be driven. I understand people putting absolute mint cars in a air conditioned environment and taking them to shows in a truck, as they are absolute the best of the best. But if you have the balls to drive one, then do it. Great video, and i say it once again, no place for horses on roads in this day and age!

Depending on the design of the rubber grommet/bumper, it may actually be a common part depending on design and dimensions. It also wouldn't be hard to get something custom made to any spec. For how rare the part is as an OEM piece, it may be worth investing in some tooling and having a shop make them for you. Make some extras and sell them to other owners.
