We had 4 of these at my home drop zone. Got my first flying job hauling jumpers there, and we flew the hell out them and they NEVER seemed to break down. All 4 were 56 models with identical panels and jump door mods. That was back in the early 80s, and one of them is still going strong in 2022. Got so comfortable in them, it was like driving my car. After a long weekend of hauling jumpers, it actually felt foreign to get in my own car for the drive home. Good times with good airplanes and good people.

That is what they do best.

182s are probably the best all around jump planes. I myself fly jumpers in a 1962 C182 “E” model, with the wider cabin and swept tail. I can confirm that it is extremely hard to not land nosewheel first. A few jumpers I’ve talked to say they prefer the older 182s because the gear legs are longer, thus preventing them from accidentally rubbing their gear against the jump door when exiting the plane.

My first CFI job out of school (awhile back) was for a club who had a straight tail 182. Solid and reliable.

Branding. We have a unique intro and we kept it shorter than the actual videos we produce. You'll hear it and know exactly what you are watching. But, we have been turning it down for you! Glad you like the content! - Don the camera guy.

Nice video. Would this one have the wide cabin?
@skywagonuniversity5023 Жыл бұрын
No, Narrow cabin. The rule is that if there is a rear window, It is wide. No rear window, it is narrow.

Back in the years to begin flying tandems this was first run in one like this modle and with a notch of flaps on rotation I was climbing out with a best rate at 1100 PM and now I'm flying a Big hauler and my favorite the IO-540 Stationar 206.

What about converting them to a 180?
@skywagonuniversity50233 жыл бұрын
The airframe is the same as a 180. The Cowling has no cowl flaps on a 182 and it does on a 180 so that would be an identifying feature after a conversion. The main work is in the tail for the tailwheel. The inner gear supports for the tailwheel gear position is already in there. There are STC's, they are old but it can be done. It costs about $15,000 to do and most of this is parts. The perfect straight tail to convert if you really wanted to is a 1959 182.

I love the fastback with swept tail, like the 1961 C182. Way more good looking than the omnivision.
