I level out the 56 chevy gasser, and attempt to address the issue with the new frame snout.
I disassembled the new front axle from Checkered racing only to find an issue that was likely caused in shipping.

It's a lot of work, but it'll look great when you're all done. Keep up the great work. I considered this front stub assembly for my 56, but opted for a Nickey front end. Thanks again for sharing, Joe from Galvan's Garage

FYI, from experience, and possibly do to wear and tear, we should always use the same tape measure. Using two different ones, will typically not be exactly the same length.

Hi Barry, you might remember the other night on LIVE I mentioned I was going over to watch the Gasser build when I saw you had a live show, you commented nice but didn’t know which part I was going to watch, well it was only the second one, the new clip was out of square , I think you did the right thing by sending it back, yes you could have fixed it, but you are right about that possibly having problems associated with doing that, I started watching part 3, I saw where you got the new part in from the supplier, but got called away before I could finish it, I am already digging the videos just like all the builds you have done, I will binge watch a lot of your videos, and leave for awhile, but I’m back for the Gasser build, and looking forward to a few videos, have a great Christmas week and Holidays- Mike

Well Barry, it's better to stop and have the manufacturer's warranty in effect than to cut it up and have to accept the liability. Especially when it is someone else's car. Glad to see them step up and take care of it. Rare to have that happen nowadays. Better to hold off for them and find a few little projects in the meantime. Thanks and we'll see you next time.

Hopefully it will be fast turn around. Everything you start goes on hold. I hate when things work that way. Part of a working man’s life. ( or woman)

Hey Barry, is there a specific tightness (torque setting) for the suspension bolts when you're reassembling? How do you know how tight everything needs to be?
@JoDaddysGarage
@JoDaddysGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I can’t say there is a sequence. Snug bolts and set it on the ground. Tighten as necessary. I just use German torque a lot. Gudentight. But you can find torque specs based on bolt size.

is checkered racing going to give you a hard time because of the cut you made in the new frame?

They shouldn’t. It was a brace for shipping.

I may have missed this but did you measure the length of each rail to verify they were the same? The diagonal rail measurements would be different because of length difference but, of course, this would not explain the difference from side to side. Just my observation. Hoping for a quick turn around.

I did. Measured length, width and crisscross.

@@JoDaddysGarage Didn't really think you had skipped that step but almost anything is possible. Good to learn they will, hopefully, correct the problem without any hassle. Just disappointing that it was a product made and shipped in the USA.
