Wife's 2010 Fit has had this sort of problem for a while, particularly notable while accelerating uphill. Twice many months apart she mentioned it to the dealer and twice the response from them was they couldn't find anything wrong, couldn't reproduce it (this last time just the other day). Guess I should have known that a couple of minutes on youtube would provide what is likely the real solution. Getting a bit late in the day to be fussing around with this, but tomorrow for sure I'll be checking the plugs for tightness, but also pulling any loose ones and seeing if they otherwise look okay… Fingers crossed, and thanks for your video. (Plugs were replaced by the dealer Aug 2017 (at a hefty price), so 6-7 years later when the problem was first noticed by the way, some 70K miles ago.)

Any idea where in the U.S. the coupe comes from? Rust not so bad if driven daily until the accident. Then again, the accident could have happened in 1975. ;/)

I'm dealing with the same junk latch bracket and not using it either. Unfortunately, I cut my old one off at the top as well as the bottom otherwise I'd do the same as you did. I'll find a good used original part as it seems this is the only aftermarket piece that I keep coming across from all the suppliers.

So, someone on the assembly line threw that wrench in there before welding the b pillar into the car? Rattle trap from day one? I suppose the car could have been taken apart sometime later in its life. Hopefully...

the guys on the line would sometimes do stupid things like that. My Dad had a noise in his new station wagon (back in the 70's) that you could only hear while making a left turn. The dealership spent hrs trying to diagnose it and finally discovered a flat washer on a metal wire that was spot welded to the inside qtr panel with a note saying, I see you found it. LOL

Im about to tempt it lol the video i watched a guy did remove the covers only the 2 back bolts to the 1 cover. Pulled the pin before install and stuck a socket on the end of the part got 1 bolt in turn the crank shaft then pushed up on the part with a big socket over the end pushing the plunger in lining the 2nd bolt up. Idk about pulling that pin my luck I won't get it in there I'll update when I'm done think I'll go with your way and not pull the pin till it's installed... UPDATE i got it done thank you for this video it helped a lot now the wife is happy

Hey man, I just had this happen to me today on my 2008 Tahoe with 208k miles on it. I was lucky enough to pull over at a rest stop while my wife went with her car and got me what I needed to do the same repair you did with the hose clamp. Thank you for this video as it gave me the confidence to fix this so I could get home. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Glad my hose was long enough too. Take care bro🫡

We used to cut the scoops out of the original quarter panel and put them in the aftermarket ones. That was the only way to get the correct body panels fabricate them yourself. It sucked.
