Simply an amazing piece of automobile history!

Beautiful Golden Hawk. Hoods were prone to buckle near the hinges due to the weight of the massive grille. The neat V on the side eased the transition to the fiberglass fins. Prior to ‘56, Hawks didn’t have fins. The round cover on the transmission hump is how you check fluid. You won’t see another ‘56 Golden Hawk like this very often. A real gem!!

That is a tasteful car. Can you imagine driving this in those years when big tail fins and chrome everywhere was all the rage? If I had a time machine and got transferred to 1956, this would be my ride, I still feel modern in it. Beautiful and classic.

What a true piece of mid-50s nostalgia! I heard once that the Studebaker line of cars were years ahead of their time. I remember these very well, but don't recall having ever seen one this sharp. Thank you Jay, I never realized that they were powered by Packard! This is one sharp car, and priced very reasonably!

Only one year and one model of Studebaker cars were Packard powered, and that was exclusively the 56 Golden Hawk. All cars before and after were powered by Studebaker designed, engineered, and manufactured engines, sans the 65 and 66 Studebaker's assembled in Hamilton Ontario Canada, and those were a variant of the Chevrolet inline 6-239 ci, and the V8-283.

Beautiful Golden Hawk !

When fins became a thing, instead of new body panel molds Studebaker came up with the fiberglass fins that were mounted onto the original sheet metal from prior years design. Would love to own one of these gems.

Wow, you don't see these everyday... That 352 V8 is actually a Packard engine and even more powerful when supercharged.. I had a 1958 Silverhawk years ago.. which had the Studebaker 289 v8... Very cool cars indeed..
@3RTracing2 жыл бұрын
The Packard engine never was optioned or equipped with the McCullough or Paxton blower (same company, different versions and names of the blower). The only optional power package for the 56 Golden Hawk was a 2-4 barrel version of the 352, and extremely rarely the 374. 57 and 58 Golden Hawks had the Studebaker built 289 V8 with a McCullough variable speed drive blower feeding a Stromberg 2 barrel carburetor in a sealed aluminum box.

@@3RTracing it's true the supercharger was not available from the factory as an option on the 352... But that didn't stop dealers or anyone from installing them... I've seen 2 of them in my lifetime.....but I've never seen a Packard 374 V8 in any Hawk..

Nice car, but the hood damage is coming from buckling the hood at the hinge. When opening a hawk hood, pull the hood towards you as you lift. The car isn’t totally original for one the truck lid is from a later year, also that’s make the script wrong and key latch. Apparently the car as been repaired/reworked and of course repainted along the way. Maybe this salesperson should know something about what he’s trying to sale.

PLease lube the hood hinges and weld the big crack in the hood side! You are ruining the hood every time you open it!
