I bet that plenty of people seeing the current Jeep pickup model think that it's the first they've ever made. I love the Willys Jeep era. The AMC version was cool too. Once Chrysler got ahold of it though things changed and not for the better.

My first waking memory in my life was of me rolling around in the back of my grandpa's Willys back in 1964. My dad used these in the forestry industry in KwaZulu Natal. Great trucks. Fantastic Blues harp player by the way!

I've had a lot of nice machines, but nothing compares to my 1957 Willys wagon will a 289 hi-po V8 engine. As 67 it's my most memorable piece of equipment I've ever owned

I love this truck! Great history too. There was several of these in my extended family that got passed around, two of which had a Chevy 283 swap (stock, 220 HP 4-bbl). My dad ended up with one, a ‘57, which I was allowed to drive sometimes back in HS. It had remarkably tight, positive steering for those things, as well as the shifter. Made it a pleasure to drive, although we knew better than t abuse the drive train. The other one had the 283 swapped out for a 235 six by my uncle, who was a six-cylinder guy. Weird, but it suited his needs just fine.

These trucks are not really safe over 45mph with the stock chassis and drivetrain. btw, I have a 47 truck and 53 Panel. Both are going on a gen2 ford explorer chassis, the truck a 5.0 awd, the panel gets a 3.0 v6 duratec
@jeffcohen9246Ай бұрын
I wish I would have known, I drove my 57 panel for many years at highway speeds 65 mph.

There is a '53 pickup in my uncles driveway, my Grandpa built it for his boss/family friend in the early 70's and bought it later...Unknown displacement SBC, 4 speed with an overdrive (seperate unit, can be used with any gear) and of course a twin stick t-case which gives a bunch of options. 4.10-ish gears in a Mopar rear and factory front axles. Drums all around. I wanna get it so bad and use my '77 wagoneer as a base and make it stronger and safer, better axles, power disks at front at a minimum, an actual Jeep 401 or 390, maybe do like 33's nothing crazy just a good old all American, all Jeep Jeep. Edit: My bad, forgot to say that your Jeep is pretty awesome too, it's nice to see one so original and honest

I believe that in 1956, it was called Construction Yellow. It may be the same as transportation yellow.
