RIP Vin Scully. Thank you for your amazing contribution to America's game.

This Dodger team had 6 HOF players: Koufax, Drysdale, Reese, snider, Campanella, Hodges. I think the manager Walt Alston also was admitted -‘so 7 Dodger Hall of famers.

You have that right Bill....Cincy was known as the redlegs instead of the Reds for about 10 yrs in the early 50s-early 60s, because of the Communist "Red" scare led by Senator Joe McCarthy

I think the Reds ought to change their name to the Duds after today’s loss to an opponent who fails to get even one hit and yet still wins the game.

Amazing how Vin kept mum on the topic of the Dodgers impending move to Los Angeles for the '58 season. Walter O'Malley must have told him to keep quiet about it.

Notice that the Cincinnati team was referred to as Redlegs rather than Reds. This was in the middle of the cold war where the color red meant Communist.

Both teams are in third place only two games behind the Braves who were 56-40 with the Cardinals in second at 54-40, the Dodgers actually in their by percentage points at 53-41 with the Reds at 54-42. But the braves would be pulling away, going 39-19 from this point on and finishing 8 games ahead of the Cardinals, 11 up on the Dodgers and 15 over the Reds.

In 1968 Dodgers offense was so weak Drysdale was often used as a pinch hitter. He had 8 hrs that year.
