Bought my '57 Bel-Air in '67 for $150. Wasn't as shiny as the ones here. With a 283 & Powerglide it was like a Caddy to a 17 yr old :~)

I bought my '57 Bel-Air convertible in June of '64 for $400. It had the 220 HP 283 with three on the tree. It was my HS graduation present to myself. It's Tropical Turquoise paint was looking tired and it had a coupe of dings so I spent almost another $100 to get the body work fixed and a total repaint. I was one happy, proud kid. Sold it for $350 when I got drafted in the fall of '66. The '57 Bel-Air has to be the best looking full size Chevy ever made!

1967 was a good time to be buying older cars. It was before all the antique and collectible hysteria got hold of the market. In From the 50s through the late 60s old cars were cheap and fun.

Those turboglides were very smooth shifting and Chevrolet offered it for a number of years. They didnt fare well with the bigger horsepower engines like the 348 though

I can't believe they use such big words back then. Nobody speaks that way in 1957 and even today!

This ad was made probably around July 1956, before the styling for the 210 model was changed and long before fuel injection was available.

At $550., Ramjet fuel injection wasn't going to be a popular option. And the ad was cut short, so they may have mentioned FI later in the video...

So? They stopped me plenty of times. Saved both me and my girlfriend one dark night, when we ran up on a poking farm tractor pulling a hay wagon. Yeah, we were all over the road in that old 1960 Ford. But we didn't plow into that wagon. So what's your point?

I never liked the 210. My uncle had 57 2d Belair, it was his first new car, one of my all time favorites.

they didn't look like the one showed in video. That's an early 210 prototype that didn't get used. Most folks cant tell the difference between a 210 and BelAir.

@@alanalonso6082 Over priced trucks. Although the '55 was the best design. It had simple lines, minimum chrome, and minimum frontend overhang. The 56, & 57, you can stand up between the radiator and front bumper. I believe the '55 Desota was the best design, and the hemi was great, but workmanship was bad.

@@jamesmooney8933 Can't argue with what happened in the past. However, some cars just stood the test of time better than others. As far as stating which one is a better one, I'd know which one I'd choose and has more re-sale value. But my preference is subjective.

Agreed. Kind of gaudy and excessive on the outside, but so much hard metal and uncomfortable vinyl on the inside. It's an unpopular opinion, but I much prefer American cars of the late 70s to early 90s, especially for full-size ones.
