A 1950's Deer Hunting Trip - Hunting, Goofing Around, Camping, Camp Cooking, Hunting and Dressing Deer. The period cars are great. Al little family scenes, including video of the aftermaths of a house fire. The hunting scenes were shot in North Eastern California.

I was born in ‘57. Back when cars were cars, men were men, and women were glad they were! Hunting camps were awesome. A piece of Americana slowly slipping away. They hunted a good spot. And they ate good!!! Looks like fun to me. Good video👍🦌🇺🇸❤️

I'm 66 now. My dads family always hunted. I picked it up from them. I'm sad to see all of this tradition disappear. Still have my heirloom rifles!

Great to see a hunting video that is not all commercialized and they are paid to use every piece of equipment they have.

The cars and equipment have changed but not the spirit of the hunt and being with friends. This is a treasure! Glad you shared it.

When I was a freshman, old "Pappy" Brown would turn me loose to run his Texaco station on Sunday`s. People would be coming through on highway 56 from hunting in Colorado, with animals strapped across their cars in various fashion, some across the hood, some over the top, and some hanging out of the trunk. The year was 1963. I had started rabbit hunting with dad when I was just 5 years old, so this was just the neatest thing to me. Now I`m 75 and still deer hunt every year.

Though I do not hunt, I am an avid outdoorswoman and really appreciate how lovely this video is of a simpler time.

I was born in 1960 and back when I started hunting this is the way it was even here in North Georgia. Now it's all about fancy equipment, cameras, deer corn piles and look at what I got. I don't know how people back then managed to eat without all that crap and a Wal-Mart just down the road. Thanks for the video and the memories that I will never see again.

I just posted a new video. Same family, less hunting, but some camping and fishing also. Lots of cars and day to day life also. It is about 10 minutes longer.

That rifle that the young fella is holding around the 9 min. mark, is a Remington pump model 14 or 141. I used to have a 141 in .30 Rem.. What a great rifle! I wish I still had it. Great memories! Thanx!

Nice to see the way it was, and the way it could still be. Way too many toys out there for hunters to use nowadays. I hunt as cheaply as possible.

I think that’s the Eastern Sierras. There’s a California plate on one of the cars. Can’t tell which suburb that is but the uniformity was really kicking in around that time so it could be just about anywhere with new construction. Loved seeing the USMC frog skin camo and leather flight jacket. The race car parked on the street in the suburbs is neat too.

The people lived in San Lorenzo on the East Side of the SF Bay. It looks like someone worked in Oakland at the Hostess Wonder Bread Plant. Part of what was written on reel said Deer Hunting in North Eastern CA. I used to live in Bishop in the Eastern Sierra. It doesn't look quite the same....in my opinion. Thanks for commenting. I am trying to get a new one up in the next couple of days. Same family a snowed out hunting trip in Colorado. Family parties and some great cars.

Yup, I recognize all them damn cigarettes. Couldn't get away from that crap in the late 50's and 60's. But people had a WHOLE LOT MORE common sense in them days, paradoxically enough.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know camo was used in hunting back then. All the period photos and film I’ve seen show some version of khaki/brown pants with Buffalo plaid wool jackets and some kind of wool hat, or the Pennsylvania tuxedo. Maybe he was just ahead of his time…

Wood & steel rifles are returning.......mark my words. The tacti-cool phase has passed. Laminate lacks the beauty and hand (feel) of wood. Inherited pre-techno arms mean more to the owners than all the gee-whiz marketing ploys combined. Something to be said for returning to one's roots.

Wood looks cooler all but one of my guns is wood. I use the fake one when it gets really cold out. I live in the city In an apartment so I can't leave the gun outside in a shed like I used to do when I was growing up so the gun would be the same temperature and the scope would get all fogged up.
