My first car (purchased in 1968) was a 1957 Fire Dome. Same paint scheme but no record player, fender skirts or wire wheels. Big as an aircraft carrier with plenty of room in the trunk for a tail gunner! I had sooo much fun with that car, however that was in the days of cheap gas. I couldn't afford to feed it now.

My favorite Classic cars are the 1956/57 Desoto and 1955 Chrysler's Imperial St. Regis Coupe.

I miss fins, wing windows, enormous trunks and steering wheels, and manual transmission with the gear shift on the steering column

What is the difference between a Fireflite and Firedome ,is it the 4 barrel carb only?

I have an original 1957 De Soto brochure which lists the Fireflite with a 341 ci 4 barrel, and the Firedome with a 341 ci 2 barrel, as you stated. The Fireflite came standard with the 3 speed TorqueFlite. The Firedome came with a 3 speed manual as standard equipment, the TorqueFlite being optional. Also, the Firedome doesn't appear to be available as a wagon, unlike the Fireflite and Firesweep versions.
