Must have sourced a 1970 LT-1 engine from either Flint or Tonawanda ? By '71 they were down to 9.0 to 1 c/r and 330 gross hp. That solid lift cam sounds sweet though ! 👍

I and my father and a friend have run long rams since 1965. On 361, 383, 400, 413, and 440s, they worked best on 383 to 413 ci. With massaged 1959 "509" Chrysler 300 heads, We run a custom experimental Crane grind hydraulic cam from 1968 because NOTHING else comes close. I have had it duplicated by Crower (Crane wouldn't do it) just to have a few extra around! The grinder at Crower called and said, "Man, I'm keeping the pattern for that one! There's some weird stuff going on in those lobes! Let me know how it runs!" I said, "well, it broke a bellhousing on a 727 in half when the 413 flashed to 7500 in second, and dad hit high!" I know of two guys that won't set foot in the car, and one that got out and walked home after he saw the tach jump from 6300 to 7500 in high and leave black marks on the road at 130 mph in Dads car ('64 sport fury 4 spd). He took it to Bunker Hill Indiana dragstrip in the 60s and was running in a ci/lb heads up class in the 1/8th mile with cheater slicks and brought home the trophy against 427 chevelles, big block mustangs, and 409 chevies etc. I still have the trophy and the rams on a 400 in my car, a 4 door Dodge Monaco. With 4.56 gears, if you stab it at about 10 mph in low, it lifts the front wheels about 6". Don't believe the B.S. about low rpm only, EVERYTHING has to be just right, but they will blow right past the rev limiter in an orange box. I saw your car at the mopar nationals. I freaked out! I had a dream in the 1990s where I popped the hood on my car and it had twin turbos on the rams. The only difference was that it had a heater core on each side under the carb connected to an icewater reservoir and pump for intercoolers! Hood scoops make a HUGE difference. I run two Thermoquads because everything is adjustable. When they are right, (forget everything you think you know about tuning and start from there!) they surge like a blower! I got 21mpg in a newport with 440 and 4.10 gears back when gasoline was gasoline! Mine wanted to be very rich in the bottom and lean in the top. I actually blocked off the jets in the secondaries of my 625 afb's just to see if it would run, it ran pretty good! Cool car!

very cool...if it has the police interceptor intake and associated larger carburetor, it is a 428 SCJ engine, that was the only difference between the 428 Cj and SCJ.

All those Triangles might work with eachother, but do not flow with the classic 57 chevy body line styling at all. Reminds me of another custom car called timeless, where they themed the built after an hourglass shape, but overlooked the fact that the old 30s ford hand no lines that worked with an hourglass

"Experimental" AC was mentioned thats why it has the newer style compressor. So the exh was replaced, things get old and rot believe it or not. If the guy has papers, history whats with all the negative nancys? Think its a cool ride, probably better built than most garage builds. Juse raise the idle up where its supposed to be....and drive it! MIles arent going to change value. No way could I not drive this

All of the Z-16s were made in the KC, MO plant and were originally meant for magazine people, reporters and or drag racers etc...Chevy wanted the people to show them off and get the word out for the 66 years. That prototype is neat as it has a vinyl top, which you could order extra on the car. The breather also has an actual metal badge on it, not a sticker like you would see moving forward, so if you see one at a swap meet by chance GRAB IT....That 396-375 horse package on the Z-16 was known as the L-37, which next year was known as the well-known L-78 on the 66
