At 2:00: "The first reissues that Fender starting doing in 1987, this is one of the guitars they chose to reissue." Mark, your information is always so comprehensive and correct (in the subject areas that I have at least some knowledge of) but in this case, the '57 Stratocaster vintage reissues starting emerging from the Fullerton factory in about mid-1982. I have one from '83. After 1984, CBS sold Fender and production stopped for a while, resuming at a different plant. Those original three years of the vintage reissue series have since become pretty collectible themselves.

Mark, the 57 reissue strat (along with several other models) was intruded in 1982 (not 1987) and built in the old Fullerton factory.

lambert1702 Exactly. They built 'em in Fullerton during part of 1982, all of '83 and some or most of '84. CBS sold Fender shortly thereafter and things ceased for a while, never to start up again at the Fullerton factory which was not part of the sale. I have a black '57 reissue for June, 1983 and a Fiesta Red '57 P-Bass reissue from Dec., 1982.

Reminds me of my 1995 Fender Japan '50s Re-issue Strat, the first decent quality electric I owned. It had a 5-way switch though, guess Fender figured they had to include that modern feature at least.
