I love '50's automobiles, they were very innovative

I owned one of these in 1972. It was pink and it didn't have the tri-power option. Mine had a single 4 barrel carb. My brother gave it to me because he blew up the motor in my car when he borrowed it. It was a 56 chevy 4 door station wagon. My first car. I sold the Olds for $50 when I enlisted in the Army. The buyer used it in a demolition derby. That's where a lot of these old 50's sleds wound up.

Love these cars, look at all the jewelry! I'll take this over a 57 Bel-Air any day!

It’s a step above the Chevy & was more expensive in the day. If you drove a Buick, Olds, or Pontiac you were living pretty good.

Wow. Georgeous. Solid white is pretty unusual for a 50s car.

I’ve said and heard that statement more times than I can count. But back in the day we needed to use those beauties for a trade in.

I have a 57 Golden Rocket 88 Holiday coupe that has been garaged since 1975. I know of 4 times since then that it has been driven. Debating getting it back to driving or selling it. Hasn't been started since the mid 80s.

IMHO the 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 was the best looking automobile to come out of GM in 57; Other than the 1957 Chevrolet Corvette. This was Oldsmobile 50th anniversary; So this was the 1st year for the gold painted engines ; Also the J2 option was banned by NASCAR that year which was raced by Petty.

I know it's mean but when Jay's on the turn table, I like playing the video at 2 X the speed and watching him being spun off the turntable.

Something is wrong with society. In 57 this car was sold roughly for 2,000.00$, back then it was just another car. Today, we would pay anything to own one? I think the problem is not the cars, but us, trying to hold on to our youths. I can save us a lot of money, buy a hula hoop. In other words, it’s too late, not for the car, but us.
