1957 plymouth progress

The front end gets disassembled, now we can take out the original motor and put our rebuilt 383 in. Also clean up the engine compartment and paint it black. We are turning it into a 58 so all the 57 stuff that we took off of the front is not going back on.

I under stand I even know about a '57 savoy that was a barn find the current owner had the original 301 torn down and rebuilt . He even found gunk in the engine when it was 1st taken apart. I even advised him to use a fuel with additives Shell V power has the most I know it has 10% ethanol but I will put the lucas ethanol treatment before the fill up

Is there any certain website that you're able to find parts for your Plymouth? I have a 1957 Dodge Royal 2 door hardtop I'm needing a gas tank and a sending unit but I have had no luck finding anything like that if you do please let me know thanks.

Justin Hillis I don't really have a particular place except for eBay. If you're looking for a gas tank Van's Auto sells a reproduction galvanized gas tank, I would give you the link but for some reason I cannot find it on their website maybe, they're out of stock. That's what I have for this car, I have noticed that Van's puts those gas tanks on eBay too so you might have more luck finding it there, and if you do get it make sure to also get the straps from them because they only work on their gas tank.

When you get fuel make sure it does not have ethanol . www.pure-gas.org this site will help you locate non ethanol fuel. There is a product called lucas ethaol treatment you can get it your local auto parts store. I burned the 93 octane in my '57. I would like to advise you this is rebuild the original motor and keep it in the car but its yours and its up to you.

Stephannie The original 301 is pretty gummed up and far gone, plus the poly motors don't have a lot of power. We have a 1965 383 that were putting in that should make a good 300 something hp. We're going to make it look like a Fury motor with the gold block and duel quad oval air cleaners.

Since this is not a full restoration but a clone car, swapping out the engine is no big deal.
