1957 Thunderbird by Amos Minter sells for $142,500 at the Barrett Jackson Auction in Scottsdale.

Amos Minter tells us about his concours restored 1957 Thunderbird with both original tops that has just 38 test miles since its completion. It’s powered by a 312 ci 8-cylinder Thunderbird Special engine with ECZ-G heads and dealer-installed dual 4-barrel carburetors and backed by a Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. It’s equipped with Master Guide power steering, Ford Swift Sure power brakes, electric windows, engine dress option, accessory backup lights and a Town & Country signal-seeking radio. This T-Bird was restored to its Data Plate specifications and finished in its original shade of Gunmetal Gray with proper appointments. The restored XH concours-correct red interior also features proper embossments.

The best in the business. But I always wonder why he puts 1962 to 1963 style wire wheels on his baby birds. 55 and 56 had 15" wheels with a wire wheel cover over dog dish hubcaps as an option, the plain dog dish or full-dress medallion centered disc covers being standard. And 57 had either the dog dish hubcaps or the turban hubcaps on 14" wheels. 57 had no wire wheel cap, and none of the baby birds had wire wheels.

You're absolutely correct and I've often wondered that as well. Those Kelsy Hayes wire wheels are totally incorrect on any '55-'57 Thunderbird. They were standard on the '62 & '63 Thunderbird Sports Roadster. You could also order them on any '62 thru '64 Thunderbird.
