It's amazing to see how rural 1950's Scotland was. Farms, 1930's attire, boats carried over from the previous century, and more.

In 1961 people in this area would then finally receive ITV through their own franchise called Grampian Television which came on air September 30th 1961 from the Mounteagle transmitter. Colour television would finally arrive in this area in 1970 with BBC 2 first provided followed by BBC 1 and Grampian Television in October 1973.
@@heraldeventsandfilms5970 Well, at least you got ITV. Scottish Television wanted the franchise, but the ITA refused them it.

a possibly apocryphal story suggests the Grampian station was to be called Scottish Highlands & Islands Television until someone looked at the initials.

its more lack of regulation with screen thats the issue. theyre overused for entertainment rather than education. hopefully this changes in the future.

Not that many people in Britain had televisions in 1957, it was in the mid 60s when they really became ubiquitous and affordable and the vast majority of people had a set.

There's a big difference between a TV set with 4 knobs sold in the 1950s and every device today which monetizes every possible interaction with it. Older people are more likely to see the graft.
