Talking about Fibre Optic cable for the internet in 1994 is really interesting, going from having the dial-up internet in 97 to broadbrand in the mid-00s then then finally getting fibre 2023, only took them 29 years to get there...

First match in 1964 aged 9 , fairs cup win in 69 and that's about it apart from a few promotions , I shudder to think what will happen when we win something . Can you really imagine what it will be like when do win something major , I have waited and waited for far too long . Seriously , my dying wish is that our dreams come true and I'll die a very happy man !!

Every single death of this terrible war are a shame but something about hearing the train she was on was the last to leave Amsterdam makes it even more painful. My great grandpa avoided being drafted as a german by working in a factory and having some important repair knowledge until 1945 as well. He didn’t want to go, he had kids too. But at that point nobody even in the factories that kept the civilians alive were spared, he was sent out and ended up (presumed) dead right at the end of the war. In Germany they said this last wave of men were just cannon fodder because everybody knew there was no way the Germans would win. So many people lost their lives so senselessly, most of all of course the Jewish people. I’m so glad this piece of history has been preserved in her diary and hope that it keeps being read in school forever. It’s so very important.

Great video. Amazing how we now tolerate much worse conditions on the trains and have nobody at the station keeping things ticking over. We are just human resources.

Absolutely mental. You'd have thought they'd won it not lost in what was perhaps the most one-sided cup finals ever. FELT NOWT! And that support hasn't changed even today. Clearly the best supported club of all....anywhere.

I read somewhere that Volvo invented and patented the three point seatbelt. But when they realised it could save lives, they dropped the patent so all manufacturers could fit them.

absolutely amazing, this footage sums up the greatness of the game in the 70s for me, Newcastle lost of course and lost badly but this reception is far more passionate than you'd see any winning side receive today especially man city(not knocking their true fans) i've been to St James' many times and the fans are brilliant even in todays sterile prawn sandwich era, it's such a shame that Newcastle side didn't win anything, on their day they were brilliant, jinky smith, terry hibbit and of course Supermac and hallelujah john tudor!

I was in the punk scene in the 1980’s Midwest America m, and we all came from F’d up families, or were extremely sheltered in an ultra liberal enclave in Louisville Ky. We just didn’t have anything else. Had to claim a “fashion” and music for ourselves. It’s all very pathetic really.

I remember when i was a young girl, im almost 66 now, and our dustbin men would take old chairs, mattresses, anything. Always with some friendly chat. Mum would give them a tip and a present at Christmas of a bottle of something . These are then men , yes men, we need. Can you imagine the state of the streets, etc, without them. Now, if my bin is even open, an inch is a surplus and gets left. 🙄. But I'm still grateful for them. Hats off to all waste didposal people. Better not say Dust men 😅.

For those who think celebrating 'just' being finalists is a bit OTT, as in terms of prestige, winning the FA Cup in the early 1970s was almost on a par with winning the league, and probably more glamorous. Furthermore, in 1974 the FA Cup Final was one of the very few club football matches that was broadcast live on TV - and on both BBC and ITV at that! It was also a game in which almost everyone took an interest in, regardless of whether they were football fans or not. As a Liverpool fan I was so pleased with the result, but if Newcastle had been playing against almost anyone else, I would probably have supported them.
