1957 Western Toilet Performance Tests

I've never seen a 1950s Western Toilet before this so I think it's somewhat rare. It is a little disappointing because it has a very weak flush and an unglazed trapway.

That's an extremely interesting toilet, and an oddly basic design at the base for how old it is. Makes it seem more like it's from the 80s or 90s. That trapway is so wide too!

It’s weak because the flush valve isn’t tall enough, some toilets need a tall tank or a tall water line to have a good flush, like the 1993 Kohler Wellworth Lite, the tall tank versions have strong flushes but the ones with normal, shorter tanks are super weak, same here.

you shouldve blocked the overflow tube so you could test it at its intended water line, but that was almost 2 years ago, so it doesnt matter now

It has a very large trapway (a bit like the siphonic bowl toilets in the UK from around that time - Single Trapway (as like this one) and Double 'Power Siphon' Trapway versions) but that's where the similarities end as the flush is weak and the unglazed trapway also hinders the performance! 6/10! It looks cool though!

They are quite sought after here in the UK as they are no longer produced (which I don't know why as they would still work as well on 1.6 Gal/6 Litre which is our current toilet water consumption regs - with a few minor tweaks). I would love to acquire one or two (one of each type - as well as a Forward Trap like the Compton/Vedet as the ultimate prize) for my house!

The biggest trapway I think I have ever seen on a 50s toilet. I think minerals and flushing on lower water level are inhibiting it's performance.
