1958-1960 Ford Thunderbird - The Square Bird

The 1958-1960 Ford Thunderbird, carved out a special legacy in the U.S. auto market by being the first personal luxury (2-door) car. By the 1970s this personal luxury car segment which the 1958 T-Bird had originally created, was the hottest growing segment in the U.S. The 1958-1960 T-Bird is the car that McNamara created and it's special place in history will forever be preserved. when I was 8 years old my neighbor bought a new 1960 Tbird I road my bike over to her house and I told her I loved her car and was going to buy it from her one day it took me till 1988 to get her to sell it to me I still own it till this day it has 61K original miles on it

I remember my dad blasting across the Arizona desert at 110 MPH in his '60 T-Bird with me and my sister in the back and my mother yelling at him the whole time.

I had a 1960 T-bird when I was younger, it was such a cool car and pretty dammed fast! I wish I still had it!

In my small town there was a young couple and they had 4 kids. They were the cool family in town. The kids went to my school and one day their mother pulled up to pick up her kids in a new '58 T-bird and they were surrounded by kids and adults alike. We were WOWED by that car. Guess what...their dad had purchased TWO T-birds! Matching white hard tops with black interior. I have always thought that was so cool. Only in the '50's could you pull that off. PS. The kids and their mom and dad were the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.

Back in the day my dad bought a new 1958 black T-Bird. We lived on Long Island and that summer we took a trip to Canada in the T-Bird. Everywhere that we stopped, small crowds would gather to look at this awesome car! What an impression that car made on me.

I remember the first time ever getting in a T bird.. wow! Couldn’t believe anything like this existed.. from the very cool dash to the lounge like rear seats..it was a 66 model.. white with a blue interior 390 4 barrel..

I had. 1959 T-Bird with the 430 CI engine. I loved it as it would pass anything on the road but a gas station!

Everything about how this series is produced evokes "old car memories".... the intro, and the narration are both great. The most interesting points, and pacing is perfect. Imo.

My very first car in high school was a 1959 Tbird. The car was 10 years old when I got it used and needed some engine work.. learned how to work on cars👍🏻🇺🇸👍🏻

I remember a family "get together" back in the late fifties or early '60's, when these were relatively new. A distant relative of mine had I think(seems I remember the 3 taillights on each side) a '60. I was 8 or 9(I'm 67 now) and remember being FASCINATED with that car! It was so pretty, I was totally enthralled with it, playing with the power windows and such. In rural LA around 1960, cars of this sort were rarely if ever seen. The sight of this car only reinforced my lifetime obsession with cars. I would later own 3 Pontiac GTO's in the eighties. A

Thank you for taking the time to show a beautiful T Bird. The only thing I could add is that the 1960 T Bird had 3 tail lights on each side. and as someone who had the opportunity to drive one. you are absolutely right it was a great car...Ed from Colorado

When I was 14 years old in 1973, my father sold our black w/red interior 1960 Thunderbird convertible. I LOVED that car and I begged him to save it for me till I was 16. He said no and that O would have to buy my own car :( I still hols that against him to this day, even though he's passed. I was learning how to work on cars since I was 10 from the motorheads down the street and I did tune ups and oil changes on it. I could swear that it had a 390 though. I am positive it had 6 tail lights as compared too the 4 in 59 which wasn't shown.

Those model years of the T-Bird were my second favorite to the earlier two-seater models; with the '57 model being at the top of my list of T-Birds.
