When I was 17, I got a 1970 Grand Prix, 2 door, 400 cubic inch, 3 speed Hurst shifter, dual exhaust. Now in my sixties, I can say it's the only real car I ever owned.

Im rebuilding my 84 Z28. L69. Lear siegler interior, I loved driving that car. That l69 was not your normal 305. That paired with the 3:73 gears made it pretty gutsy for a stock 3rd gen camaro.

Those cars sold like hot cakes. The only recalls I can find were essentially inspections of certain components.

Cadillac Biarritz owners of 1959 would have pronounced it “Bee-ah-REETZ” or if that sounded too poshly French, “Bee-ah-RITZ.” Hearing it as “Buh-RITZ” would be greeted with a withering sneer.

Very old reply, but I happen to have an oddball Cougar. To my knowledge there are less than 40 4 speed 72 xr7 convertibles made. i happen to have one of these. It is however an H code 2V vin, but the engine is actually a Q code 4V CJ engine. Only thing I can think of , is given the rarity of the vehicle, and things not always meeting QC standards back then, mine may have slipped the cracks and been vin'd with an H code, when it was actually supposed to be a Q code. Either way, I still have one of the rarest Cougars made.

My family had a blue 64 Fairlane wagon with the 289 hi-po. Mom was hit by someone eating while driving in 1985 and insurance totaled it due to body damage. She got a Tercel with the check and was promptly hit while in the turning lane to take me to the dentist. I was in kindergarten but still remember that Fairlane.

My 1st Brand new car purchased after graduating high school in 1977. Canary yellow, my favorite color. Unfortunately it started to break down from the moment I drove it home. Took a summer trip from Cleveland Ohio to Provincetown R.I.. Installed a new 8 track player with Jensen speakers prior to my trip. On the way to P town I started to notice these black specks on my hood of my car when I stopped to refuel. After a closer look discovered it was my windshield coming out!! After arriving in P-town getting to a dealership, hassle about getting it repaired. Almost a week latter, having a great time in P-tpwn, car was ready to be picked up. On my way home my problem continued. After having some major arguments with the dealership, my car was awarded the Lemon Law. The dealership bought my car nack instead of dealing with a lawsuit. I did end up having to purchase another Chevy, but my lemon nightmare was over 😅

Even Consumer Reports had to admit that these were a great value and reliable. Huge capacity, smooth and easy to fix compared to a FWD car. They seemed so dull to me at the time but they sure do look nice now.

You can get an insane amount of horsepower simply by putting in a huge cam, such as a 326 duration intake and chromoly main bolts, spins 7000 + RPM and no problems. Going from peak RPMs/HP at 5800 to over 7,000 on the 396s gave them insane power.

Best Corvette design. Pushing the bottom of the front end "out" in the front, boxing it out a little as well, makes it a perfect design. It is a mean looking curvy beast. Thank you for talking about the front end, I think this little design touch really perfected the C3. I don't think you can create a sexier looking car, honestly.

70-73 T/As (to me) were the ultimate in overall perfomance styling outta Detroit. There were other good lookin cars from that era, but none hold a candle to these years. The Formulas (optioned correctly) were the next step down.
@katazack12 күн бұрын
The '70 TAs came out while I was in high school. They looked like space ships to me. A good friend had one, white with blue stripe, for a long time and then sold it to a friend who still has it. Awesome machines.
