Silly thing to think about, but the Powell is almost like the first El Camino. Car frame with a pick-up body, and it came out 2 years before the Ranchero. VERY cool and funky truck, wouldn't mind having one, would definitely be the only one at the local car cruise riding around in one!

Great to see the '51 Kaiser Traveler! My Dad had a '51 Frazer Vagabond, which was the last year the Frazer brand was built. Our Vagabond was a 4 door sedan and the back opened up in the same way the Kaiser did but was a more deluxe and highly finished version than the Kaiser model. It was a great car, very well built and versatile as my Dad used it as his truck during work and our pleasure car at night and weekends.

Absolutely right it is. 1967 Chrysler Town & Country wagon OAL is 220.3 inches with a curb weight of 4674 lbs. A 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab with the 5.75 foot box is 231.7 inches long and has a curb weight of 4950 lbs.

Dennis, I know that you are a certified car nut and also a fellow motorcyclist, me too. I am a retired USAF vet. Last May, I purchased a 1987 Honda 1200 Gold Wing Aspencade. Unfortunately I had a bad wound on my right heel. Because of the wound, I have never ridden the bike.I went into the hospital in May and spent the next 5 months in the hospital and recovery. I had 5 procedures done. In one, they removed most of the tendon on my right ankle. I can walk, but I don't think I can hold up a 800 pound bike plus a passenger. I know there are trike kits but I'm not really into trikes. I saw something on You Tube , that was a set of " Retractable Landing Gear" for motorcycles. They are also expensive. I was wondering if you or any of your subscribers might have some connections where I might get a set for my bike and also get some financial assistance toward purchase. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. On another note, I live in Canandaigua, NY in upstate New York. Not too far from here is a very interesting Museum, It is called the Glenn Curtiss Museum. He was a very early aviator. He was a bicycle racer and builder. Later he built motorcycles and engines for dirigibles. In 1907 he built a motorcycle with a V8 dirigible engine. He took it to Daytona Beach and did 137 mph, in 1907!!!! There is a replica at the museum. It is terrifying. No suspension, no brakes, no clutch, no transmission just an open bevel gear direct drive. It is insane. But so cool. and so are some of his planes. check it out. By the way, my email is 19Goldwing52@gmail,com thank you so for your time. Don

The cruise control system on that station wagon is the same basic setup that was used on a variety of makes of cars for almost the next three decades it just got a little smaller. I very often want to kick some of these people who label older technology a “Rube Goldberg” design when it was not. This design of cruise was worked well and was dependable it is just based on the technology of the day as opposed to the technology of today. PS That wagon was no bigger than any other station wagon of today. What gets me is all of the yuppies of today who put their deposit down for that ugly looking pipe dream that Elon Musk is claiming he will build and call this station wagon a land yacht when what it is a comfortable full size vehicle, little do they realize that Turdsla “truck” is as big if not bigger than this station wagon
@MrCorvairGuy4 жыл бұрын
Looking at the owner's manual for my '67 Newport Custom, page 28 describes how the cruise control (autopilot) works. There's a selector switch (off, on, auto) and a numbered thumb wheel which allows you set your desired speed. You push to switch to the AUTO position, set the dial to your desired speed and then accelerate until you feel resistance on the gas pedal. You can increase or decrease your speed simply by changing the setting on the thumb wheel. Pressing the brake shuts the system off. The system also works as an over speed warning reminder if you set it to ON and then dial in a selected max speed. The gas pedal will move freely until you hit your desired speed and then you get resistance. It's still possible to accelerate but the gas pedal will be heavy.
