What a NICE, cool beautiful, lookn caRR!!! Those colors are amazing, certainly an attention getter, I'd say, my dad bought one of these ,but it was an automatic, 4 dr sedan, and it was a 2 tone color like all, it was black/yellow. Also dad's favorite car was the 58 EDSEL, in fact he bought 3 of them, he's passed on now, but I've gotem a 4 dr HARDTOP Citation, a 4 door Pacer sedan and a 59 Villager station wagon, 9 PASSANGER car. THANKS for sharing this with me. Take care of that GOURGOUS carr!!👌😉👍

Learned to drive in a '64 Country Squire powered by a 352. That distinctive valve pop in the dual exhaust note is what inspired the Mustang GT sound. Best accentuated with a set of cheap glass packs to rattle windows in the neighborhood.

My grandpa bought a brand new black 58 ford pickup from a ford dealer in Dinuba CA. They offered and put a 352 special interceptor in it from another vehicle there on the lot. That particular engine has factory machined combustion chambers in the heads and believe it or not that pickup beat a injected vette of the same year when they were both new cars. Also he had trouble getting the pickup from the dealer after the install cause they were showing the dam thing off.

This is an amazing Ford! The '58 (for some reason) doesn't get the same respect as the '57 in terms of looks. The front end was a big improvement over the '57's headlights. The sides were freshened, and the taillights were more in keeping with the '58 T-Bird's taillight housing. No, they weren't round that year, but neither were they in '60, and those don't get the same criticism!
@mytimetunnel3 жыл бұрын
I agree, thou it seems the 58's are getting much more respect now days, including the fact the 58's could get the Interceptor 352, was Ford first High Performance FE option ever, has a factory aluminum high rise manifold, factory Holley 4 barrel, special cast high flow exhaust manifold, 58's i think looked better from the front, they did use T birds front end look a bit too" which i love" big open low hanging grill, 57's are nice, but i would not give up this 58 for one :)

I have a 57 Del Rio 2dr wagon and a 58 Del Rio also, I like both....but the 57 is a cleaner sharper design, preferred by the hot rod crowd.....the 58 is a little " heavy handed".... but that said...all of GMs were overdone also......the vetted got crazy with slottedhood.....double headlights, chrome trunk strips.....however the overdone look of the 58 is definitely a late arrival to the party and certainly gaining in desirability because of so few remaining.

c mon i'm just now getting used to the "58's
@robmcgowan40342 жыл бұрын
@@danobrien5154 The 58 GM's were actually ALL overdone with the chrome/stainless steel. Having said that, I think the Impala looked awesome, inside and out. The Pontiac just didn't have the looks of the Impala. The Olds admittedly overdone still looked better than the Buick. This is probably why Buick was the first GM division to get the '59s WEEKS before the other four--including Cadillac. Speaking of, it was fairly restrained in '58.

@@mytimetunnel not sure what fords mindset was but I’m thinking the 57 supercharged engine the Y block was a hi-po in their minds but the 352 and 332 and 390, 406, 427, 428 and probably a few others were contenders but that 352 is where it started and I wish I had one, I have heard of the 352 in 65’s not sure of 66, that is where the 390 took over, but, not introduced mind you but I guess base big block, 66 also is where the 428 came in, I’m sure I can google it. I like to spew facts without google though

Nice work. When new, these were notorious for being assembled without much quality control. Even much of the fitment was mostly someplace average. The 1957, 58, and ‘59 were strange design exercises. In 1960 the good design was back and competitive. Hot rodders mostly left the Fords alone although a few were nicely done.

Prety sure, it is a H code in the door, which according to Ford means 352 Interceptor Special, which come with a Ford factory aluminum high rise and Holley Carb" still on the car" and high flow casted headers ' still on the car' numbers all pan out original matching, they all Ford FE Edsel designed blocks though.
