I've never heard a bad reuter. I bought a 1970 11 stop in wichita a few years ago and am still installing it on the Rio grande River. Adding a 32' bourdon octave to get to the 16hz low c. Just because!! Not the biggest but I do have the only 32' c in nm. Love Reuter gonna miss them!

The first organ I've ever played was a Reuter. The opus 1523 from 1966 (I think).

Its really nice when an organ builder that knows and explains the organ versus the residing organist.

This is quite a well-appointed, cohesive, satisfying and generally fine-sounding instrument. (I confess to a strong preference for chiffy stops!)😊 I don't believe I've ever heard a 16' Krummhorn before. Nice. Many thanks. 👍

I know right? I just LOVE that Great Principal.

Tonal chess played in a sympathetic acoustic. That Krummhorn is certainly well wrought and voiced.

I spent many hours practicing on this instrument as an organ student at KU prior to my BMus recital in 1958. The organ was installed in Murphy Hall.

What a nice blend of the 1958 neo-baroque stops with the pipes of more modern scale and tonality. I like a good bit of chiff on certain stops, and they’ve again struck a nice balance between those and a smoother, rounder sound. Like most Reuters I’ve heard, every stop counts, contributing in some way to when added to the chorus. I’m glad they left the 4’ Rohrschalmei even if it was a “fad” in the 1950’s and 1960’s. It’s unique and adds character that you can’t find in any other reed stop. The only thing I’m not sure about is the 8’ Great Principal which seems to be more sizzle than anything else, but perhaps that’s just a function of the recording. Overall I’d say a very successful instrument!

McManis (March 17, 1913 - December 3, 2004) was an American organ builder. McManis was born in Kansas City, Kansas and received A.B. and Mus. B. degrees from the University of Kansas. He served as an apprentice with Austin Organs, Inc. I may be wrong, but I thought I heard it said in this video that he was involved with this Reuter instrument in 1985.

I've seen an Allen organ of that same design of console on their website!

What was that hymn he played a bit of at 8:00 to 8:07 it's real familiar but I can't remember the name now!

I, too, can't recall either the tune name or the first line title, but I recognize it as a carol for Weihnacht (Christmas).

is the demo of the 8’ principal at 2:25 an improv or a piece of music?

Lots of advertising for Reuter. Business must be falling off.

Perhaps, but they certainly put their best 8 foot forward. ;-)
