The engine is designed and built by Alvis Only back in 1951.. The gearbox is not Austin Healey. It was designed backi in the late 40s and was in the TA 14 cars. As was the engine Possibly was earlier than that as well. Check history of the 3litre cars for further information.

This is my favourite variant of my favourite model of any car ever. I never knew that they fitted the Austin Three litre engine! I learn something new every day, and that engine was superb ... In the 1970s a neighbour had a twenty year old Massey combine harvester with this engine, which had a straight through exhaust. I assume it drank petrol for England, but it sounded like a Merlin at half a mile's distance! Best wishes from George

hopefully the subtitle comes up - I was daydreaming in that it's Alvis' own engine, but the gearbox is Austin Healey with Alvis selectors

@@motodromehenleyonthames Thank you. The Alvis Three litre was an incredible engine for the time. I used to know a Grey Lady, which was really fine, but was not the most effective body on Alvis's amazing frame of the time. Did not mean to correct you. I Might well have been wrong. The two variants I like best are the single headlights in the wings, and slightly later the spot lights went where the grills are on the front of the first variant. Either would suit me to look at. I bet there is not a fag per between the two to drive! Great, Coventry, engineering that was the best of the day in so many ways, in spite of not being all that adventurous. I'd prefer this to any Jag, Rolls or Bentley, though some Rovers of the time run it close. Thanks for the two videos. Best wishes from George
