We’re looking at a 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible in Pink Paint. The car comes with V8 engine with an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Larry Read. Larry’s had this car since 1985. Larry shares when he was trying to explain to the Painter the color he wanted to paint the car, he ended up going to the drug store and picked up a bottle of Pepto Bismol and shared that is the color he’d like for the car.

The displacement is 390 cu in. Cadillac did not have a V8 over 400 cu in until the 429 debuted in 1964.

I KNEW that was Pepto Bismol pink! Engine cid is actually 390. The chrome taillight bullet covers were only used on the 60 Special, not even on the Eldorados, but they do look good on the lesser model.

My Grandfather lived in Florida and he had a white 1959 Cadillac Convertable that he drove back and forth to our home in NY for his yearly visits. When he passed away we got the car but it was too big for the garage and it was a gas guzzler so Dad sold it. Before he sold it they used it for a parade and the Mayor of our little town rode in it. Great car and great video.

Love it! I love old 'land yaghts' and this here is the king of them. I had a 72 Coupe Deville that I absolutely loved when I was about 19. People thought I was crazy loving it so much, but I guess it's just one of those things. It was nice but still not a 59. :) To quote my Dad when I took him for a ride and let him drive it a few times. He said " Some cars drive down the rod, some they say float... But this, kid.. The color is challenging to me. Soft pink and coral were colors used in the 50s. 😮 white would have been much better, in my opinion. Series 62 is the DeVille version, Eldorado featured bucket seats and was more luxurious.

This and the yellow Ford from the other day? You really know how to spoil us! I love cars from the 50s and 60s with their bright colors and bold designs. There was so much optimism for the future in the little details for these cars that you stopped seeing as the decades roll on. I wish my generation (Gen Z) got some sort of return to the old fashioned paint jobs, with bright colors like this. Though I suppose I don't have much excuse anyways, I could still do as this owner did and repaint the car as I please. Great video!

Hi Lou, I’m sure I won’t be the first one to say this but I believe the engine is 390 CI. 19 mpg is a bit hard to believe, yes it isn’t constrained with pollution controls or weighty safety devices but it’s still very heavy and has the aerodynamics of a barn door. I’d drive it in a minute. Thanks for sharing. 👍😉

The bottle of Pepto Bismol not only was that a classic but also priceless. For me to loan 💵 that Caddie out for parades people are going to have to take care of it and take off their shoes 👞👡🩴🥿👠👟🥾 I mean it i mean what I say and I say what I mean or I said what I meant and I meant what I said also you have on a pair of heavy thick warm socks 🧦 or brought a pair to put on and wear, because they are not going to be comfortable riding in my 59 Caddie Convertible, but still what a Beautiful 🤩 and Gorgeous Ride it is and to have in a Collection. Another Beautiful car Lou. I wonder if Elvis Presley had a pink 59 too? I always wondered if pink was a rare color on those Cadillac or not. I have a 1962 Fleetwood 4 door hardtop that was my grandpa's. On the engine though, I could have heard him wrong but I thought he said the engine was a 490 cubic inches, 59 Cadillacs had a 325 horsepower 390 cubic inch V8's. I believe that they had that engine from 59 to 63 if I'm remembering correctly.

In the mid 60's my uncle Gene in Florida bought a medium blue 59 Caddy Series 62 4 door hardtop. It was his pride and joy until it rusted into the ground from sitting in about the worst spot on the property -- next to the duck pond behind the pig pen/hog wallow in tall grass so the grass held additional moisture which in Florida has salt in it since it's a peninsula into the ocean and the gulf and the duck pond added moisture then add the acrid, steamy contribution from the pigs area less than 15 ft away and that poor car never stood a chance and last time I went to Florida it had completely disintegrated into the ground all the way up to the side trim line. Years earlier in 1969, one of the semi trucks from his trucking company based about 30 miles from Orlando had broke down just across the state line in Georgia, and since the rest of his trucks were out on the road somewhere or another and not due back for at least another week, he went with the 59 Caddy to assess the truck to see what it would require to fix it where it was at.... The truck was unable to be fixed there and needed to be brought back to his shop to get fixed. Having it towed by a wrecker for semi's from in Georgia to half way along the length of Florida would cost too much and so would having a shop in Georgia fix it, so what did he decide to do? He took a chain for securing some types of loads from the trucks tool box and decided to see what the Caddy had for pulling power. Yup.. he towed a broken down International semi truck and trailer from in Georgia all the way to 30 miles shy of Orlando. The car survived that venture, only to be "temporarily parked" when it's generator died. He was always too busy to get around to fixing it's generator and it sat awaiting repair until it eventually ended up missing from the side chrome line down.

A nice car to be sure but my heart was with the Cadillac convertible(I was 17 at the time). Dad made up for it when he bought me a red/white 65 Ford Mustang convertible for college when I left the Army.

Love this car! Would not ever have wanted to drive it! Too Big! But I'd gladly sit in the passenger seat and go for a ride. This car was so over the top, even fro the 50's. I love the detail of your video from the outside and the interior. I was surprised that the dash was a bit sedate. But I guess with that beautiful outside, it didn't matter. I wonder what the designers did when they had to come up with a 1960 Cadillac? They probably said where do we go from here? They totally tamed the 1960 version, and I like both the 59 an the 60. By the time I had a Cadillac formyself, it was a 1990 Coupe de Ville. The good ole years long gone from Cadillac from 1990. Love, love this car!

I must admit that the pink just does not do it for me. As far as a ‘59 Cadillac’s styling I remember an interview that I saw with Chuck Jordan who was a GM stylist at the time that this one was being developed. As outlandish as the styling seems, he said “let me tell you, at the time it was the thing to do!”
