Did you see how that Dodge took those curves at high speed ? That's because it , and all Chrysler products of that time, had Torsion-Aire suspension...far superior to front coil springs. A Ford or Chevy at that speed , would have lost control, and skidded OFF ROAD !! *PLYMOUTH DODGE DeSOTO, CHRYSLER, and IMPERIAL* .

I own a '58 Plymouth and, for a car of its age, it doesn't handle bad at all.

I hate to tell you but coil springs are also torsion bars, just more compact. I think Chrysler cars handled better because torsion bar length was limited (i.e., stiffer ride).
