I'm an aspiring artist and this is a master class in composition by a masterful technician who gets the most tone from any guitar he plays. Thanks Jen for capturing this amazing musician day in day out for all of us to absorb and appreciate.

I believe you don't know what the point of buying a vintage guitar is. If I bought this one, I would have tears of joy in my eyes every time I played it because of how it SOUNDS.

Interesting to hear Norm remark on how rare these are. It reminded me of a story I heard once about Dave Edmunds. It might be true or it might not, but if it is true it is pretty cool. Edmunds often played a blonde 335 and while he was on tour with Rockpile. This I can confirm as I saw him play it several times. So the story goes that he had some sort of a problem with it and needed an emergency repair. He asked around and got a recommendation for a luthier who could fix it for him. So he goes to the guys shop and opens the case and the guy takes on look at it and tells him the serial number. He was able to do this because there are only a handful of blonde 335's of that vintage and he knew where all of them were except for one. Until Edmunds showed up with it. Somebody out there must know how many were made. If you could weigh in it might disprove or confirm this tale. Regardless seeing rare vintage instruments like this is why we tune into GOTD every day.

Going through a vintage Fender Super Reverb can bring vintage tone to almost any guitar but this one is special. A blonde 335 dot neck with bigsby and patent applied for pick-ups are you kidding me? A dream machine to be sure, the history of American music wrapped up in a blonde bombshell, quite an amazing instrument for any guitar aficionado.

The thing that made me like Lemmo so much is the way he does a heavy steady chunka chunka on the big E string while playing the chords with his fingers. He is muting the big E string with his palm, but while also maintaining the rhythm with his fingers playing chords. I have never seen that before. And he did with the guitar on the neck pickup, which is also weird. He had enough distortion to get some highs and crunch from that neck pickup. It reminds me of that Stevie Nicks song, "Edge of Seventeen". I am referring mainly to the rhythm part of the first thing he played.

I started watching Norms videos periodically off and on for a while, and after Norm got sick, I started watching regularly, wanting to see updates of how Norm was doing, and thankfully Norm has been getting better and better, and to see the love from his staff , celebrities and channel viewers for Norm made this one of my favorite channels,(especially when Norm goes to the "Secret Vault") I wish Norm nothing but the best on his recovery, and like many viewers this particular episode was something else, what a great sounding guitar mixed with Lemmos perfect type of playing to show off this special instrument. Thank you to all who put these video's out everyday, I have learned so much from watching this channel. Godbless and thank you.

I remember a blond ES-335 going off on Ebay in like 2004-ish for $45000. The guitar was being sold by people who had no idea it would go for so much, and the entire guitar community had never seen one go for so high before. I think it was a stop tail. Of course we did not get to hear it. This guitar player, Lemmo they are calling him in the comments, ...him, the guitar, the amp, the recording of it. ...it was a magical once in a lifetime event. It's about the best I have ever heard a guitar sound in that style. Ever.

And I am talking about his rhythm playing, ...that was what was so incredible. His lead playing more like good to average. Nothing special. But who cares, ... that rhythm he laid down was so perfect, and that is a lot harder to do than some lead noodling around. That first rhythm he played is what I am talking about.

I’ve owned a blond ES335 that I bought used in college in 1967 also with a Bigsby and custom made tag that covers up the unused tailpiece holes. I don’t know when it was made but the original neck was broken and replaced by Gibson in 1964. They glued a serial number tag that matches the new neck over the old tag which I can still see but can’t read without removing the 1964 tag. Can Gibson tell me more about this guitar’s original date of manufacture?
