My Greg story: Heard him with his full band at the Frankfurt music fair in Germany years ago. They played some very sentimental intermission while Greg was talking to the audience about a very sad story. A friend that got really sick and unfortunately passed away, if i remember correctly. Everybody was in the mood to start bawling when he announced the following song in memory of him. Then they started to play the most hilarious, up tempo funny piece you could imagine. Like Greg does. I'll never forget this.

He does his own thing, and he does it well. We need people like Greg. Not just Jimi and Eric. One thing I noticed in this video, his playing is so clean, I mean it is dead nuts perfect to my ears. No buzzing strings, no extra strings ringing out. Being a guitarist myself I can totally appreciate how difficult this clean of playing is. Then there's those crazy pre-bends he does. They sound perfect too. Where he gets all this music while he's playing on the fly is out of this world. Just amazing talent.

I would absolutely agree with you, He needs to be better known, as he is one of the great guitarists on the planet as well as one of the most unique. You cannot watch and hear him play for more than a minute without smiling or laughing out loud.

Was not familiar with Greg, I think he is less known in Europe. But I loved every second of it! Super interesting. I would also love to see Eric Gales one day!

Just amazing!. Greg is where Im from . He worked at a music store that had 6 great guitar players. All killers of different styles. One day I was talking to one of them and he goes "ever see Greg play"? I was like "who's that". And he pointed to a guy in the store. So I went to see him a few weeks later in a local bar. Just to see the guy ascend to his current status is pretty cool. This guy has an endless well of musical chops.

Had the pleasure of meeting Greg before a show. What you see is what you get. A phenomenal down to earth guitar picker and great guy that harbors a plethora of Gristle tricks :)

I basically watch every video Rick is doing. Some stand out, depending on the artist he's interviewing. This one stands out like a lighthouse by any means. Greg fills every room with his sheer presence like no one else. What an extraordinary human being he is.

I met him at a demo he did in a very small music shop almost 20 years ago. chick'n pickin madness. he was quite humble then too. I remember him demoing all these zoo animal sounds with a pretty basic setup/all technique

I had the pleasure of meeting Greg and introducing him to our guests when he was a clinician for Fender. Our music store was so lucky to have him play for us. His knowledge, massive chops and humor were on full display for us that night. I’ve been a huge fan ever since!!

I recall seeing Greg in Melbourne Australia one very hot January in 2002 ish. It was 115F inside the venue, and he sizzled for an 90 minutes or more. And Greg was gracious enough to say hello in person at the tail of the show during bumpout. Larger than life on all fronts. Great interview, Rick.

Great to see so much actual playing during an interview. Especially for someone like myself learning guitar in my old age. So much to learn.

Around 2004 when I was 18 I really got into SRV, he’s still my guitar hero. I bought a Greg Koch instructional dvd on SRV. I knew he was the man as soon as he started playing. He’s so good and articulate that it almost takes the magic out of it.

I was at a street fair in Wauwatosa, Wi...probably 15 years ago ('tossa Days). I heard this blistering version of Jeff Beck's "Beck's Bolero" coming from somewhere up the street. Bingo!! The incredible Greg Koch was "laying the smack down" on the audience. Greg is an absolute maestro.

I only became aware maybe 7 years ago, and that is a shame, as he is an absolute monster player. What sets him apart, besides his ability to play basically anything, is the humor he brings to his playing. Everytime i catch him doing a Wildwood guitar demo or catch on his live shows recorded on KZbin, I am smiling ear to ear.

At first I thought this was a green screen with two separate viewpoints combined. Makes Rick look smallish! You can't get a feel for his size unless you see him next to a "normal" size person. And what a sense of humor. Great interview.

Only a week or so ago I was thinking Rick needs to get Greg Koch in. The dudes such a monster and has influenced my playing in the last few years. His chordal work is insane. Thank you Rick - Greg deserves all the accolades and sits among the best players. Super intelligent and very very witty.
