@@atlasvantech its good to watch I've been looking at one of these bikes a 59 from a deceased estate for some reason the chap removed the pistons from all of his collection strange that

at this point I'm wondering if you can machine the piston as well as the grooves. Does it even matter if the piston is a fraction out seeing as the rings are doing the work (I'm a carpenter BTW not an engineer)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The problem you'll create in reducing the piston diameter beyond the recommended tolerances is piston slap. The piston will effectively rattle in the bore. Not recommended! Malc
