I had 3 CJ 7’s, I love old Jeep’s, this should be rescued and wheeled.

This is back when jeeps weren't as fragile. The 44 out back and 3 speed were hard to hurt. Aside from rust issues they are usually 2500 all day long.

Criminal…I’d buy that in two seconds complete, I live in PA and that would be a prize of a lifetime found in a junkyard, the seat and the rear tire carrier are worth it. That looks like an excellent base for a project 😢

M38A2 body frame and axles, probably late 50s, with a hacked 60s CJ5 dash, seat, and a 70s windshield. So sad, but I would save it!

Good solid jeep, it's a shame it's in a junk yard.

Rarest thing about it is that split bench seat.

Correct. Based on the serial #, it comes back to a 1959 CJ-5. 1959 models started with serial #82878 and ended with 97918. There were 15,040 of them made in 1959. Possible code #175 Fountain Green Poly or code #175 Mallard Blue Poly if those were the original colors underneath that you showed.

Never in my life have I found a CJ in a junkyard. They just don't get there unless they they are run over by a semi. I wouldn't think it would last a week there.

was this in California? My old place had an abandoned house next door that had a soft top jeep that was essentially rotting. It had a chevy engine with it. I contemplated asking the new owners if I could keep it but it was gone the next time I saw it

Nope, Denver, Colorado.

Where can we purchase?
@tylerhughes81173 жыл бұрын
My buddy bought a cj5 that was arguably worse than that thing. The parts for those jeeps are so cheap, the floor pans are readily sold and you can replace every part on that jeep if you wanted. Not saying you would, but a fresh floor and a junkyard small block would put it back on the trail for the next generation to enjoy.

Looks like a m38a1, the battery box and top frame are indicators of that, someone probably grafted a tailgate to it

That is NOT a M38A1

Did you save the car? Where is it located? If it hasn't been destroyed yet I would consider coming and getting it.

Colorado, the Denver U-Pull-And-Pay location. It's been picked over, not nearly as complete as it was when I saw it.

The yard won't sell the complete truck?
@jimmythejunkyarddawg3 жыл бұрын
I believe they WILL sell a vehicle but supposedly not as one piece and definitely not with a title. Of course putting it back together wouldn't be tough and making it an off-road only vehicle wouldn't be the end of the world either. Last I saw it a few weeks ago it was still there but getting more and more picked over as people found items they could use on their own Jeeps. This yard does very occasionally have running vehicles out front to be sold complete (and then if they don't sell they end up in here) but this one didn't get that opportunity for whatever reason.

They sold the first-year Jeep Comanche I posted a video of a week after I posted it. They sold the Frame and Engine "separately" but left them intact on that one. No title though for the buyer, will be used as a "parts car". Maybe. Or perhaps have a VIN change or used for offroad only... This CJ was getting picked over the last time I saw it, but seems to be able to save some other people's CJs.

Are you suggesting it's a '65 or does the 65 in your comment reference something else? The VIN indicates a '59 based on the sequence from what I can tell looking at the CJ club decoder.

focus on frame and floor rot. no engine no trans so you have a nice ''antiqued '' body we love the look. but you call out stuff that is irrelevant..... next time bend down , with hi power light , battery.. focus on frame floor.
