Glad to see we are in agreement on which gloves are the best for winter firewooding!! In my video #57 I talk about how much I love my Kincos!! If you haven’t already, try the product Sno-Seal on them before putting them to use, helps break them in a bit faster and makes them pretty waterproof!

Good morning Chris!!😀😀 You have definitely tried every kind of gloves that are out there for doing wood. You have had the same experience with them that I have. I have found one kind that where being sold for under 10 dollars. Close to 10 years ago now. They are full leather, close cuffs and thinsulate lined. They usually last me all winter firing the stove and working on my equipment. I bought around ten pairs and I'm down to my last pair. My middle fingers usually ware out first also. Don't know what I'm going to do for good gloves next year. When I was hand cutting and making firewood in the summer I usually went bare handed and just let my hands toughen up. Once my hands were toughened in they didn't need gloves. But now days I don't do enough bare handed to get them in shape enough to not need a pair of gloves while doing wood. 30 face cords isn't enough to toughen them up. Good luck on the ultimate glove hunt!! TTYL!!😀😀👍👍

What an incredible summary on work gloves for wood cutters. I had reached the exact same conclusion. I like to buy the Wells Lamont or Kincos in xxxlarge which is a loose fit but seems warmer. The safety cuff keeps them securely in place. Also, when they do have a seam failure or hole open up, the larger size allows me to repair many of them on an old Singer 29 leather patcher sewing machine. This machine has an arm that can go quite a way right into the fingers of the gloves. The repair sometimes sizes them down a bit. I hadn’t concluded yet the Kinco’s were more durable so, so thanks for that info. My only question is what are you saving all those old gloves for?

I ordered those same KAMORI gloves from Acme Tools online after seeing you use them at the commercial property: $16 shipped. They are great for using with chainsaw -- great grip, warm enough and not too thick. Wells Lamont store on Amazon has some good ones, specifically: Men's FX3 Extreme Dexterity Blue Winter Work Gloves which are fleece lined and have held up well even using the splitter, $18 (they also make non-winter version in same product line). And then, Wells Lamont HydraHyde $16 which are good mild/cold weather ones. I use sno-seal on most of my leather gloves which helps with waterproofing and seems to make them not wear out quite as fast. Great video, I am going to check out those Kincos which i see on Amazon for $18.

Very good video on gloves!! I use the kinco double palmed cowhide open cuff I get at a farm and fleet type store for around 5 or 6 bucks!!! They wouldn’t keep your hands warm in your coldest weather and they are hot in our warmest weather!! They don’t like to get wet either, haha!! But they wear pretty good and fit well enough to give quite a bit of dexterity!! I have the same problem with certain fingers blowing out first and on my right hand, haha!! I wear 2 types of gloves, one for running a chainsaw and one for handling wood. For chainsaw I use Wells Lamont Premium Work Gloves, unlined leather. Costco 3 pack for about $20. I put Obenauf’s leather conditioner on them which is waxy and improves the grip and sheds water. For handling firewood I have been using the gauntlet style leather with a cloth back. No particular brand. They all wear out the finger tips. Interestingly the left hand always wears out first. I’ll have to try the Kinco pig skins.

My first thought was that Kinco needs to send you a case of gloves. I use what I've always called railroad gloves but they are basically the ones you had that are 3pr for $6.99. I get them at Walmart, but also Dollar General has them for just a little more and it's much easier to get in and out and there is a DG on every street corner down here. I think in many cases glove cost and glove wear is pretty straight line. In other words, you kind of get what you pay for. They odd thing is I'm right-handed but always wear out the left glove first.

Those yellowish leather gloves at Tractor Supply. They're not supper thick but they're also not bulky and they do a great job since they're leather. Eventually you get a split in a finger but they're only like $10 - $13. They are my favorite for cutting, splitting, and stacking. They're also one of the few I can get there in 2X. Sliding cardboard boxes across my hand nine thousand times a day tore them UP in a week. Leather also gets cold. The knit rubber dipped gloves work GREAT for everything and last a long time. The latex gloves are great on wet days I do a lot of work with deerskin and use it and contact cement to patch the fingertips of gloves. I usually get 3 times the life out of them by patching them twice. I looked up the Kamori gloves, they are only $15

Do you have an extra set of gloves I can borrow?🤣 I agree pigskin is the way to go for wear resistance. I have been wearing those active armor gloves from Menards. The ones that Scheib turned us on to and love them. The wear resistance of the Kevlar is amazing. Not warm but no holes yet after 2 months. I prefer a better grip to warmth. To much bulk makes me smash my hands. Thanks for sharing. GNI

Try gorilla tape for repairs. I wrap finger tip, then around the fingers. VERY STIFF at first, then breaks in over time. Great for stacking, loading splitter or truck where you don't need much dexterity but want lots if abrasion resistance. Works ok for boor repair also

Your collection of gloves looks about like mine, except you have a whole lot more. Winter down south doesn’t get all that cold for very long. I usually buy the cheap leather gloves in bulk from Harbor Freight. My sons will laugh at me and call me old fashion. I’m not paying $10 for a pair of gloves that I’m going to wear out in a days time. I’ve tried about everything also and sometimes the old ways are the best.

I use the blue palm atlas gloves that another person stated. On Amazon they are SHOWA 300L-09 Atlas Fit 300 Rubber-Coated Gloves. Works to about $2 a pair. But I have repaired a lot of other gloves like you did. With as many gloves you have it would be easy to cut off the finger part of one that’s not worn out or a piece of the leather and glue it on with this stuff. It’s called Tear Mender. Bish’s original. I use it to patch gloves and put patches on pants. It only works with fabric or leather. Wash my pants they never come off or edges come up. You should definitely give it a try and get some some more milage out of them.
