In the "Greatest TV Games Shows" all the Game Show host/hostess said Bill Cullen was the best. His timing was perfect, dealing with the contestants was like they were old friends. And he knew how to work the audience. They all said he was the best.

Bill had a radio show that ended a half hour before this program began. He had to rush from NBC to the Colonial Theater to do this show live. He had a stand-in who did the rehearsals. The small cards in Bill's hands guided him through the show.

+David Gibson Apparently it wasn't all that stressful for Bill. He would often have 15-20 minutes to spare. They wouldn't let him on stage until five minutes before air time. Bill would smoke a cigarette and chat with the crew.

Just saw this episode of the The Price Is Right , didn’t realize the Price is Right was that old, since 1956 evidently. Only three hosts in the span of 67 years which is impressive. Most game shows are lucky to last this long. To this day, Price is still on. At the 6:15 mark in the video, pricing game “Cullen’s Olde Antique Shoppe,” where Mrs. Groupe had to pick out the price that she thinks was worth $1,800 ie. the most expensive one. Can I say that pricing game is the ancestor to todays pricing game “Most Expensive” which is still played on today’s version of The Price is Right. In the pricing game “Most Expensive” on Today’s price is right, the contestant shown three prizes, the contestant’s job is to pick the prize that they think is most expensive one. If the contestant chooses the prize that is the most expensive, the contestant wins all three prizes, if not the contestant doesn’t win anything. In watching the episode of the Cullen hosted Price is Right, I noticed the prizes that version of Price were more elaborate and outlandish than today’s Price is Right. Of course on todays Price, they still give away cars and trips and furniture. I mean back then on the Cullen version they gave away houses, shares of stocks and bonds, a Ferris wheel, even business franchises in some episodes. On Today’s Price is Right, i noticed the prizes are not as elaborate or expensive as back on old price is right of yesteryear. Were the game show budgets, different back then.

This episode was from 1960, because the NBC TV Presents logo was from 1948 and the NBC Kinescope logo was from 1953, and the notes G-E-C was used at the end of every radio show from the 1930’s right up to the 1950’s.

@@davidcouch6514 J. Davis is correct. Cullen could serve in the Armed forces because he had childhood polio. He probably still wore a leg brace. Polio damaged the nerves and made the afflicted areas week. I did notice that one of his legs was very stiff which was difficult to catch because the networks were so good at helping hide his affection. Or the Network didn't the "gimpy" image and sought to hide it from the camera. I used the word "gimp" deliberately sarcastically towards the Network.

People forget two things because they are naive idiots that don't know anything about what I experienced. Manual steering was like today's steering, while power steering you could turn the wheel with your pinky, as it traversed the sea of road, elegant and fast.
