1960 Dodge Polara D-500 Convertible. This is a beautiful example of a very rare Dodge Polara D-500 convertible with the 383 cross ram induction V8 engine. An amazing car that could be the center piece of any collection. If you like this video like and subscribe to this channel and see many more classic and unusual cars. Some might even be a favorite of yours or like one you use to own. New videos will be uploaded regularly. Thanks for watching.

What a stunner - a big black swan. It would be interesting to see this parked next to the 1959 Cadillac in the background. Both over the top, both superb.

As the owner of a 58 cadillac and 68 Mustang, old cars are fine for a hobby, running around town, or the occasional 100 mile trip away from home, but are absolutely not for everyday use, or long journeys like driving across the country, say from California to North Carolina. For every day use, and long trips a modern relatively new car is necessary. The 58 cadillac was bought by my parents in 1960, the Mustang I bought in 1977. They are both in excellent condition, but I wouldn't try to daily them, no matter what you do, the cadillac is still 65 years old the stang, 55 years old. I do remember as a child riding in the cadillac from California to Missouri in the mid 60s a couple of times for family reunions.

Chrysler's "long ram" intake manifolds used sonic pulses created when the intake vales opened and closed to develop positive pressure in the intake runners. This fed the fuel/air mixture into the engine under pressure in mid-band RPMs. The result was improved efficiency and torque in the mid-range for accelerating on streets and highways. Ram manifolds with shorter runners developed their increased power at higher RPMs. Those were used for racing.
@BuzzLOLOL
@BuzzLOLOL Жыл бұрын
This has the low RPMs 30" runners for passing torque, about 1963 Chrysler started offering the 15" siamesed/15" runners higher RPMs version stock... you can see the difference externally...

Leno started wearing thin for me a few years ago. He crossed the line a couple of times. Once was on a Kawasaki H2 motorcycle - the original 3-cylinder two stroke, not the current one. I owned one in my youth. I’ve done hundreds of thousands of miles on motorcycles and watching the video of Leno riding that H2 instantly categorized him as a very nervous and insecure motorcyclist, the kind that crashes early and often. But the last straw was his restomodding of a classic Olds Toronado into an RWD monstrosity. He knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. (But he IS a nice guy.)

Amazing car which was rare even in its model year. Great as long as it wasn't you who had to change the spark plugs. But there's NO chance you'd see another on the highway if you were driving it, hopefully at about 85 when the resonances of the cross ram really sound out.

You see these monsters and you have to realize these were all built on an assembly line...I wonder if the fit and finish was as nice as this one..coming off the line? I worked at the Chrysler plant on Jefferson Ave. in Detroit..consequently I truly appreciate these beasts. All that chrome and flourishes are just stellar...America's automakers had the genie in the bottle back then. All the world wanted a Motor City boat! I had a 72 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham in midnight Black...and it was just impossible to keep clean in the city. Every bit of dirt/insect smear showered...still a cool boat to cruise around Belle Island in..back in the day. This car is just Stellar!!

I grew up in the glorious Exner years and even as a little kid knew about the Forward Look, inspired by U.S. jet fighters, (Exner insisted his finned cars were designed using a wind tunnel to optimize aerodynamic stability at speed. Sounds like BS to me but I love the look.) I had no idea this incredible car existed! At the opining of the vid I took it to be an Imperial ragtop. I wonder if it was built on a Chrysler assembly line, or Imperial’s. No doubt the Imperial line was quiet due to poor sales.

I was 16 yrs old my dad had one of these (not 500). He had a minor accident.with it and it sat in our back yard for some time. When I turned 17 yrs old and was able to drive in N.J. my dad gave me the title for the car in a envelope on Christmas day,it was 1966, I fixed the car and had it painted (blue) and had a new top put on (white) Guess you know I wish I had kept this car since thay are so rare. They came to my workplace, got my keys, and swapped out the cracked windshield perfectly, so after work I got to drive home in a car with a spotless windshield.
