@ Tiny House Expedition I enjoyed this video very much! You both are so cute, and funny! But more than that, yes, more, the information you give to us is always needed and valuable. I love this A-Frame!! I would say that the vibe I got with the yellow and black is honey bees, esp given the honeycomb tiles in the bathroom! I love all the wood, and the beams, and the space upstairs, so much that can be done up there. I know it is an A Frame in the woods, but I think the owners should put a lovely chandelier over the bed for ambiance and reading! I love this place! Thanks for sharing this and other videos :)))

@@TinyHouseExpedition Have fun making plans for your own renovation! The research is arduous, but essential. I grew up in North Bend, and we used to go camping at Salmon la Sac, at the north end of the lake (yikes! In the fifties!). My very favorite lake in WA is Lake Crescent - I think there are some A-frame rentals around there, too.

When I was a kid, my grandparents built a gambrel house in the woods here in Oregon, with the same floor plan. Single spaces up and down, with only bathrooms and a small storage room / closet closed off. Built in about 1972. We loved going over there - like being at camp all the time.

@TinyHouseExpedition2 жыл бұрын
Love that idea Jackie! Why have the view if you can't comfortably appreciate it from bed 😀😊
@RevdUp.Art.Fotografer2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing when the shot of the windows came with the view comment. I get wanting air circulation, but having what feels like to me as a bunch of windows chopping up the view doesn't work for me. A 'large as possible' single pane window, triangular or ____ w/b great. Then for ventilation add 3 or 4 sliding windows (depending on shape) spread as far apart as possible. The lower ones could be fairly low. The upper(s) could be fairly high, opened and closed with a specifically made opener on a pole or ___. I was picturing the bed facing out and a tall clothes cabinet (72-80" tall) back to back with the headboard. It would add a bit more privacy for that area since there is no door & add needed storage/hanging space. It would have to be brought up in pieces and the assembled.

Beautiful interior design and north woods setting! Thanks for sharing this! Seems like A-frames are an efficient and inexpensive way to build a home that can withstand the elements, no? With a roof like that you’d never have to worry about leaks, exceeding snow-load limits or shoveling! While we waited for our house to be built on top of the footprint of the original doublewide, we lived (illegally) in our 2-car garage. It was makeshift, and essentially one big open “cabin” with a storage room on one end that became our temporary bedroom. For a bathroom we rented a porta-pottie outdoors and warmed it with a heat lamp. We showered in a kiddie pool in our potting shed, a long, snowy hike away from the garage in winter, which required hooking up a hose to the frost-free hydrant and firing up a propane on-demand heater for the water. So life was definitely quirky! But we loved living cabin-style in that big, open space and truly miss it, even though our “real” house has a fairly open floor plan with a loft. Life is simply better lived simply, right? Thanks for the Winnie clips
@TinyHouseExpedition2 жыл бұрын

Aside from tiny houses for smaller living sake, it greatly matters to have the outside of tiny homes look interesting and inviting. Presentation does count. You don't see such artistic, unique, and charming looks to the outside of most traditional homes. How fun the burbs/city blocks would look if the houses took on the look of tiny homes. I painted the front door of my yellow house purple and the flack that I got at the time from the brown, beige, & neutral loving neighbors was amusing.
@TinyHouseExpedition2 жыл бұрын
How funny to have a negative reaction to expression & vibrancy, 😅 a sign of modern conformity for sure. But definitely agree with you on how the visual presentation matters. It’s amazing how much more inspired, inviting & cozy visually distinct small homes are 😍
@calvinsmyth2 жыл бұрын
@@TinyHouseExpedition Absolutely. Whenever a new Tiny House video pops up and shows the outside, it is like getting a beautifully wrapped gift. You can't wait to see what is inside. Also, when tiny home owners are enjoying their outdoor space, the exterior of their house is a backdrop for them that adds additional interest and coziness to the outdoor space. It is a win-win situation.

We just purchased a property waaayyy up north in Canada. I want an A-Frame, but hubby is not on board. He has a basic cabin plan in his head. It's a project we won't start for a couple of years yet. We are still clearing the land and building site that is full of thick brush and trees. I've always loved the A-frame idea...maybe because when I was a kid, my family owned and managed a KOA with the classic building with the A-frame on top of a rectangle base. It is a smart design, in my opinion, for places that get lots of snow...so would be a smart design for northern Canada.

My great Aunt lived in an A-Frame on the Mississippi in the Ozarks in Southern Missouri when I was kid. It was originally built as a Fishing/Hunting/vacation house but after my great uncle died in a work accident in their 40's she decided to sell her house fix it up into living condition and move down there. I just bought 20 acres of land on the Rio Grande just south of Albuquerque. The original plan while looking for land was to build a tiny house but the land I bough already has a 16x30 building on it that was use as a garage or some sort of shop so I'm just going to build my tiny house out of it because it's already there and in good enough shape and will save me thousands by not having to build the structure, besides it's 480 square feet which is plenty room for me.

@@TinyHouseExpedition Oh no she passed away 10 years or so ago. I will I'm also thinking about filming it and putting it here on KZbin myself. I'm doing a complete budget build though, I'm going to buy my cabinets, sinks, toilet and bath tub used and clean them up and redo them. I'm also considering building a 2 foot bump out where the garage door is to slide my kitchen counter in it to save floor space in the main living space. I'm also not going to have a stove/oven. I bought a countertop 9 function air fryer 2 years ago and between that and my microwave, crock pot and electric skillet I haven't used my full size oven 2 or 3 times since, I'm not going to be hosting any big holiday meals and I just can;t justify spend $600 or more on something I'm not going to use more than once or twice a year. The one thing I will have though is a 3/4 size fridge, having food for more than a day or 2 at a time is non-negotiable to me because I'm going to live there permantely and I can always expand the bump out enough to fit the fridge in it, but I will reach out when it's done for a proper tour.

I enjoyed seeing how this aframe was decorated. I live in a one room (with a bathroom) 28x28 foot aframe with a sleeping loft. My biggest problem is lack of storage. I am considering putting a wall up to separate the back of the house, the 1/8 that is not bath and laundry, from the kitchen, dining and living room areas. It could be a closet/dressing room. It would likely only require a longer water feed tube to turn that toilet 90° left so you would be standing out in front of the toilet facing the slant wall rather than under it. Yes, you will be face-to-the-wall, but not in it. I had an under-the-stairs powder room configured like that and it worked okay.

I do agree with you that a small A frame house looks cozy and cute but it has many issues that compromise convenience, especially the small windows( darkens the rooms) and small areas in the toilet due to limited space of the A frame house. Thus to build one must be planned adequately ahead of time to overcome such problems that hinders conveniences. Aside from the small spaces within the A frame house, if you build it in the suburbs and near in the city or populated areas in the tropical climates with warm weather, the air inside the place will have a high temperature and cause discomfort to the occupants. In anyways putting a double sided insulation and construct several wide windows will solve the problem. My tepee like or A frame house is now nearly finish and solve the several problems that were encountered by so many owner of tepee house and A frame inspired homes around the world. My A frame house is nearly 3 storeys high plus an attic with 110 square meter area.Thanks for the post guys.

Blessings, your A-Frame is simply gorgeous. What is the actual size? You mentioned the height is 10 ft...what's the actual width size please?
