I love your take on this! You should try doing this again with an oil based heat protectant and use a flat iron to smooth your hair out. Then add some curls and it will give you more body and volume. You can curl your hair with a curling iron and set it with rollers or hair pins to make it last longer. You can just use a flat iron to create curls or curling iron without pinning for a quicker style! Also try using a smaller hair padding and then only teasing at the top and cover the unteased hair over the padding!🥰
